Rapper Lupe Fiasco had a busy day on Twitter after he claimed that he is a better lyricist than his counterpart Kendrick Lamar. A hip-hop fan page on Twitter called Hip-Hop Hub posted a question asking who was a better lyricist between Lupe and Kendrick. Sensing that his reputation was at stake, the 38-year-old artist decided to reply to the question himself. The ‘Food & Liquor’ hit-maker who usually stays away from the social media, logged into this official Twitter account and replied to the fan page- “Lupe but…”

Now, naturally the reply caused a stir on Twitter before he deleted his tweet. A lot of social media users ended up trolling Lupe for proclaiming himself to be the better of the two. One user tweeted, “Cant wait for Kendrick album to drop so i can fish for the Lupe subs” One user compared the two greats and said, “No doubt. Bar for bar not too many can see Lupe but Kdot def has the better feel for music as far as the artistry of the hip-hop rap aspect of the game.”

One fan shared, “Kendrick Lamar > Lupe Fiasco Good Kid Maad City & To Pimp A Butterfly are better than all he’s made. I love Lupe first two and Drogas Wave and Testo but yeah. Lets not act like Lupe don’t be rapping just to be rappin” Another social media user added, “I’ve heard some of kendricks most lyrical tracks and they don’t come close to Lupe. Lupe made Mural.” One stated, “Lupe’s best album barely beats out section 80 and then Kendrick has 4 projects all in a class lupe has never touched. I like him, lupe can talk slick all day and has a great “pen”, but kendrick is above all that slick shit lol, he wins pulitzers not rap battles #lupe #kendrick”

Adding more fuel to the fire, Terrene Louis Henderson, the president of Kendrick Lamar’s label Top Dawg Entertainment replied to Lupe’s tweet before he could delete with a simple but effective one word- “LOL”

In his follow-up tweets, Lupe doubled-down on his stance and posted, “In my own words...once again for you b****es...I love me some KDot...always have always will. With that said do think I he’s a good lyricist? Yes. Do I think he’s the best lyricist? No. Do I think it’s lyricists that are better than him? Yes. Is he a better artist than me? Yes.”

He then tweeted, “Is he a better lyricist than me? No. Does he make better songs than me? Yes. Did I think control was ridicule? No. Am I jealous of Kdot? No. Did I personally give him his props in chicago on stage as the next nigga to take the crown? YES. Is It on camera? Yes. Did I mean it? Yes.”

Lupe then wrapped up the debate with this last tweet on the matter. He tweeted, “Does my opinion matter? Obviously. Does your opinion matter? Yes. Does your opinion matter to me? No. Are we both legends? Yes. Are we both successful? Yes. Is it a bunch of unsuccessful niggaz that keep pushing this? Yes Section 80 is my fave. TDE is my favorite rap label Bye.”

On the work front, Lupe had dropped his major album in 2018 called ‘Drogas Wave.’ This was the seventh studio album by the hip-hop artist and was a follow-up to his 2017 album, ‘Drogas Light.’ Lupe had also dropped less promoted album titled ‘Blackstar’ in January 2020 followed by an EP in July 2020 called ‘HOUSE.’

Interestingly, Lupe, who usually makes old-school hip-hop songs, has all of a sudden generated interest in trap music. He even tweeted about his new hobby and said, “I’ll be making & releasing trap music for the next couple months. Shout to @trvisXX @LILUZIVERT and others for the inspiration. I felt like picking up a new hobby and area of rap that i never really took serious serious but I’ve been studying and making sketches #TAPETAPE”

This might be a hint that Lupe’s new project could be heavily infused with trap music. This also made his fans excited. One tweeted, “That would be legendary negl” One added, “I bet it's still gonna go hard, you should hit up @DJPAULKOM for some beats 3-6 mafia huge pioneers to that sound. Wld be dope to hear you on some dj paul production since you trying to dip in the trap sound. I think this is gonna be fun to hear” One tweeted, “Next To It was kind of a trap joint and I love that song, I am very excited for this”

We, really hope the ‘Mural’ hit-maker drops his new record at the earliest.
