'Lovecraft Country' Episode 4 Preview: Is Leti going to meet the same unexpected end as George?
After the recent harrowing ordeal of Letitia 'f**kin' Lewis (Jurnee Smollett) on HBO's 'Lovecraft Country', its obvious her turmoil is far from over. Tackling racist White ghosts, neighbors, and stigma along with the unreleased spirits of the several Black slaves bottled in the basement of her new home got very scary very soon for Letitia. With her sister Ruby (Wunmi Mosaku) also leaving her side owing to the many discrepancies in her financial woes, all Leti has to bank upon now is Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors), the very man who had strung her into this morbid journey of monsters and death. The risks surrounding Leti's life are only getting started, and after what happened to Uncle George (Courtney B Vance), we have reasons to be very, very concerned about her in the upcoming episode 4.
Titled 'A History of Violence', Episode 4 of the debut season sees Atticus's father Montrose join their adventure this time. While he's nowhere close to being a replacement for Uncle George, he is also accompanied by George's widow Hippolyta and their young daughter Dee. "In search of missing pages to a crucial text, Leti, Tic and Montrose head to Boston, with Hippolyta and Diana along for the ride," explains the plot synopsis, but before all of that can happen, the synopsis reveals "After Christina shows up at her doorstep, Leti confronts Atticus about his plan to surreptitiously return to Florida."
Christina's involvement in getting Leti to buy the house has already been revealed, and Atticus was less than impressed by her elaborate lesson on mythology, explaining why she had to drive Leti to buy Winthrop Manor. The Braithwaite heiress is looking for missing pages of the same book that Atticus, Leti, and the rest of them are going on yet another deathwish for, but with her involvement as the female element in the golden trio, one can't help but fear that Leti's time on the series is coming to an end.
The trailer for the episode also shows action-packed horror sequences, each surpassing the previous one. Right at the end, after swimming through dangerous underwater caves and emerging into what looks like an opening to a sinister bottomless pit, Leti can be seen trying to cross the terrifying canyon of sorts on a wooden plank for a bridge, dangerously close to a fatal fall any time. The trailer ends with a scream and Atticus shouting frantically, asking Leti to hold on. Could this be a fall? Things are pointing towards Leti meeting the same unexpected end as George and that can never sit well with the fandom.
'Lovecraft Country' airs on Sundays at 9 pm only on HBO.
