This episode contains spoilers for 'Lost in Space' Season 2 Episode 2: 'Precipice'

'Lost in Space' Season 2 set sail steadily with 'Shipwrecked' and the next episode is as intriguing as the first. 'Precipice' is a lot more emotional than the season opener and delves into Penny's (Mina Sundwall) thoughts. As far as the plan to jumpstart the Jupiter goes, the Robinsons hit a dead end with the vessel stuck on the ledge of a waterfall. To be more accurate, the gap was created by someone or something with some form of superconductors erected to keep the lightning at the same spot.

Ignacio Serricchio's Don West finds himself in trouble as the kelp stuck to the Jupiter temporarily paralyzes him. For the second time in the series so far, the family finds help in Dr. Smith (Parker Posey) as she helps the team in a blood transfusion to help Don recover. Attempting to rescue Don is Penny who slips off the ledge and falls below to a flat surface that clearly suggests the theory of the gap being created rather than it being a natural phenomenon. Maureen tries to save Penny and crashes along with her.

With the mechanic pretty much out of commission, the onus on getting the necessary repairs falls on John (Toby Stephens), Will (Maxwell Jenkins) and Judy (Taylor Russell) as they hope to clear off the kelp. The plan is to use the Chariot (their space terrain vehicle) as a superconductor to get the Jupiter back on track. The vehicle, as Maureen suggests, will also shelter her and Penny. And all this while, Penny feels insecure about her role as she believes her parents trust Will and Judy more because of their knowledge of science. Which does come across as true as Maureen struggles to find an answer to almost every question her daughter poses.

Eventually, the lightning strikes the vessel and the Jupiter gets enough juice for flight. Two mysteries are left unsolved by the end of the episode: The arm of the robot that still resides in the ship and the markings on the flat surface. Dr. Smith hasn't changed one bit and her villainy is out there for the world to see.

'Precipice' is a mix of Penny's roller-coaster of emotions, and two mysteries, the answers to which will hopefully be answered by the end of the season.

'Lost in Space' Season 2 is available for streaming on Netflix.
