'This is sick': Lizzo faces backlash for dressing up as Chrisean Rock with a lost tooth for Halloween

Many users objected to Lizzo's appearance saying that Chrisean Rock shouldn't be used as a Halloween costume as she seems to be in an abusive relationship with rapper Blueface

HOUSTON, TEXAS: Lizzo, dressed up as Chrisean Rock, girlfriend of rapper Blueface, for Halloween on Saturday, October 29, displaying her lost front tooth and her neck tattoo. Many on social media, however, have objected to the appearance, saying that Chrisean shouldn't be mocked and used as a costume as she is a woman who seems to be in a physically abusive relationship.

Lizzo shared two videos and a different post with images of her dressed as Chrisean on Friday to show off her attire on Instagram. She wore a side ponytail with her black hair and a large diamond chain that read "Yitty," the name of her sportswear company and her childhood nickname.

The actress added gold heart-shaped earrings to her outfit of a white T-shirt and denim shorts. She also donned lip gloss and Chrisean's trademark dramatic eyelashes. She posted a video on Instagram with the outfit replicating Rock's popular video and making the same movements as hers while listening to the same song. Lizzo also posted many photos of herself having fun at the Houston Funplex while wearing the outfit.

Chrisean Rock and Blueface's relationship has been quite tumultuous. Just a few weeks after the pair was spotted fighting ugly, Chrisean was detained after striking Blueface in the face at a pub in Arizona in August. Previously, Blueface had punched her in the head, causing her to fall on the ground, and then had ripped a blinged-out necklace off of her neck as per the Daily Mail.

Following that, the two kept hitting each other repeatedly in the head and torso. Los Angeles Police Department started investigating the case after the internet began to circulate the footage. Since 2020, Chrisean and Blueface have been on and off. A new program called 'Crazy in Love' will chronicle the couple's troubled relationship; some have criticized the show for being exploitative.

Meanwhile, many social media users have lashed out at Lizzo for the costume. One user wrote" lizzo dressing as chrisean is just weird to me ngl" while another wrote, "This is actually sick and I like Lizzo. Chrisean is drowning, it’s not funny!" A third user tweeted "I love her, but Lizzo’a Halloween “costume” as Chrisean is a problem. She’s clearly in a DV and emotionally abusive relationship. How does making fun of her help her exit?" Another user said "if i was in a chrisean rock and blue face type relationship and lizzo turned me into a costume i'd be mad asf"

A few, however, were quick to defend Lizzo saying that Chrisean herself retweeted Lizzo's video and commented positively on Lizzo's posts on Instagram. 

One user commented, "Y’all looking for reasons to bring up lizzo weight bc chrisean don’t even gaf". Another user reflected the sentiments, "Chrisean retweeted the video and tweets laughing, but EVERYBODY else is telling her to fat shame Lizzo. Like I’m being serious, what is y’all’s problem fr?" A third user hit back at the criticism with "The comments talking about “but if Chrisean dressed as Lizzo it would be a problem” when like…no? If she wore a memorable Lizzo look and had a flute it would be fine. Y’all just immediately jump to fat suits"
