Lizzo cancels Hartford performance due to flu, says 'I hate letting my fans down'
Rapper Lizzo's tours have become quite a rage in a short period of time, thanks to hits like 'Juice', 'Tempo', 'Good as Hell' and 'Jerome'. But she seems to have disappointed her fans when she canceled a performance scheduled for December 17 at the Xfinity Theatre in Hartford and the singer apologized for letting them down.
She couldn't make it to KISS 108’s Jingle Ball at Boston’s TD Garden on Sunday too. Apparently, the music mogul is down with flu and she sent an apology to her fans in a statement. "To my Hartford fans and Hot 93.7, I am so sorry I have to cancel my performance tomorrow due to the flu. I hate letting my fans down more than anything. I hope that you all can forgive me while I recover and I promise we are doing everything we can to make it up to you," she wrote.
Scheduled as part of the Hot 93.7 Jingle Jam, it was also set to feature artistes Megan Thee Stallion and Saweetie. However, the entire event has now been canceled and will not be rescheduled. Thankfully, Live Nation revealed that the people who bought the tickets will get an automatic refund or can get it at the point of purchase.
Lizzo seems to have taken the music scene by storm with her full-length album, 'Cuz I Love You', and her 2017 smash-hit single, 'Truth Hurts', which featured in the Netflix film, 'Someone Great', and went on to break the Hot 100 with the 50th spot.
For Lizzo, 2019 has been a remarkable year. Her inspirational messages on self-love, confidence and body positivity have caught on with popular celebrities like Coldplay's Chris Martin and President Barack Obama.
Her bold statement on her gender and sexuality left many impressed. Lizzo said, "I personally don't ascribe to just one thing.... That's why the colors for LGBTQ+ are a rainbow! Because there's a spectrum and right now we try to keep it black and white. That's just not working for me." No wonder, the singer has a strong LGBTQ fan following and has dubbed her fans 'Lizzbians'.
