LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rumors of Liam Hemsworth suing Miley Cyrus for defamation have been thoroughly refuted. False rumors began to circulate on social media this week after a Miley fan account claimed the Australian actor, 33, was suing the singer, 30, over her popular diss song 'Flowers'.

"According to leaked documents, Liam Hemsworth is officially suing Miley Cyrus for defaming him after the success of the single Flowers," the account tweeted. The account further stated Hemsworth was likely to lose his contract with Netflix as a result of the media attention surrounding 'Flowers', after Hemsworth took Henry Cavill's place in season three of 'The Witcher'.

The account then published "leaked documents" in a follow-up tweet, allegedly from the actor's legal team, as evidence of the defamation claim being made.

The fictitious paper alleges that Hemsworth was humiliated and suffered "damage to public image [and] income" as a result of the lyrics and music video of 'Flowers'. However, turns out the purported legal document was fake and was created by a website that creates documents and a template that is the same as the one used by the fan account. Both of the signatures at the top were taken from Google, and the image was altered to appear grainy and difficult to read, probably to give the impression that it was a real leak.

'I can buy myself flowers'

Cyrus released 'Flowers' and its music video on Hemsworth's birthday, January 13. The music video sees the 'Hannah Montana' star enjoying herself while singing, "I can buy myself flowers/ Write my name in the sand/ Talk to myself for hours/ Yeah, some things you don't understand." She continues, "But I can take myself dancing, yeah/ I can hold my own hand/ Yeah, I can love me better than you can." Fans also noticed that she imitated a dance she performed at an event she attended with the 'Isn't it Romantic' star in the music video.

Friction in the ex-couples marriage may also be alluded to in the lyrics, "I can love me better," which was visible in a cringe-worthy red carpet exchange at the 'Avengers: Endgame' premiere in May 2019. As the two were posing for pictures, Cyrus pretended to lick Hemsworth, to which he reacted awkwardly and requested that she "behave for once." Cyrus looked embarrassed as she pushed Hemsworth away and posed alone.
