Lauv and Lany release new song video 'Mean It' and music lovers can't tell their voices apart
Singer and pop visionary Lauv just dropped a spunky music video for his newest track, 'Mean It', featuring American indie pop band Lany. Directed by Phillip Lopez, the video follows Lauv and Paul Klein (LANY) as they go on a treasure hunt in the desert.
The lyrics of the track go like: "You know you got me in the palm of your hand/But I love those hands/Ah, yeah/But you only let me hold you when he can't/Yeah, I don't understand/'Cause I'm all, I'm all in/I'm callin', no answer."
Much like the song lyrics that talk about a relationship based on false promises, the video — that was shot in Palmdale, CA — traces the two on a journey where they try to make sense of what's real and fake in the psychedelic world around them.
Ever since it released, the song has already garnered over 50 million streams and will be included on Lauv’s 21-track debut album, 'How I'm feeling', which is set for a March 6, 2020 release. The video clip also went viral pretty soon and fans can't stop talking about how similar their voices are.
"This video was made for those who couldn't tell their voices apart," one fan wrote and another posted, "This collaboration is basically everyone's dream (come true!) ever since their individual songs first aired." Another comment read, "Literally sounds like only one of them singing in the chorus but I can really tell who's singing."
What's more, Lauv’s single 'F**k, I’m lonely' with Anne-Marie has over 200 million streams. The track was a part of Netflix's '13 Reasons Why' as the third season's sountrack and the pair also performed it for their fans on 'Late Night With Seth Meyers'. Earlier this month, Lauv performed at Jingle Ball in St, Paul, MN on December 9, Z104.3’s Merry Litmas in Baltimore, MD and Z100’s Jingle Ball in New York on December 13.
