LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kristen Bell sported a casual look as she carried a box of fresh cherries after returning from the gym in Los Angeles. The 42-year-old, 'The Good Place' actress looked cozy in a cable knit beige cardigan with skin-tight yellow leggings. She paired the look with multicolored socks and stocky black shoes.

She also wore a black sling bag across her right shoulder to store her things. Bell's naturally blonde hair whipped around in the wind as she stopped to talk to some friends before walking back to her car.

The 'Frozen' actress recently discussed why she believes that being completely honest with her children is one of her parenting secrets in REAL SIMPLE's Game Changers print and digital issue, which has its first-ever celebrity cover. "I hate the word 'taboo.' I think it should be stricken from the dictionary," she told the outlet. "There should be no topic that's off the table for people to talk about."

The talks Bell and her husband Dax Shepard have with their kids Delta, 8, and Lincoln, 9, may seem "shocking" to some people, but they are appropriate for their parenting style, according to Bell. "I know it's shocking, but I talk to my kids about drugs, and the fact that their daddy is an addict and he's in recovery, and we talk about sex," she said. "There are all these 'hard topics' that don't have to be if you give the person on the other end your vulnerability and a little bit of credit."

Bell and her husband have their differences

She told the magazine, "When I met my husband, he’d just recently started to be in recovery. If he found a pill, he’d be gone for three days. He’d miss Christmas and do lots of things that are inarguably bad things." The actress reflected on her differences with Dax, explaining, "I was a goody-goody with a temper. He was vulnerable and communicative. That scrambled my brain, because I was like: 'I'm the one who does things right, OK?'"

Later, the star explained why some of the restrictions she and the 48-year-old co-host of 'Armchair Expert' have for their family are focused on instilling life skills. "Making amends and apologizing is an important thing in our family, because humans leave carnage wherever they go," Bell said. "I really respect when someone does something wrong or hurtful and they apologize. I'm like, 'Yeah, right on.' That's important." Bell continued, "If there's one thing I want to teach my kids, it's how to make amends — and that it's for themselves, so they can like who's in the mirror a little bit more."
