Kim Kardashian is being criticized online for ruining yet another iconic legend's piece of clothing. Before she wore and damaged Marilyn Monroe's $5 million gown, she purchased a custom-made velvet jacket that Michael Jackson wore. Kim had it altered for her daughter North. 

Michael Jackson's velvet jacket has made it to the list of iconic clothing items as he wore it to Elizabeth Taylor's 65th birthday in 1997. It was worn again to a screening of Ghost.

Kim paid $65,625 for the jacket at an auction before she took it to a tailor to have it altered. At that time, on her Instagram Stories Kim shared an image of the jacket and wrote, "North is a really big Michael Jackson fan and we knew she would love this.” "We won this on an auction for Northie for Christmas," she added.

Kardashian got it altered strategically in a way that it could be lengthened as North grows older. Following is her Instagram Story.

This glistening gown that had over 6000 crystals was auctioned in 2016 for $4.8 million making it among the most expensive outfits to ever be sold. To fit into this dress, Kim had to follow a strict diet regime where she cut carbohydrates and sugar and only ate tomatoes to fit into for three weeks. This led her to lose 16 pounds in an unhealthy manner.

During the event, insiders reported that the 41-year-old model “ended up wearing the original dress on the red carpet but quickly changed into a replica afterward for comfort purposes." Insiders also revealed that the gown was never cleaned after Monroe wore it, and dirt stains remained on the bottom.
