Kim Kardashian stunned viewers at the 2022 Met Gala held on Monday, May 2, with the iconic Marylin Monroe's 'Happy Birthday Mr President' gown. While she dazzled in the classic dress, the 41-year-old mother of four was forced to leave the gown open from the backside and cover it with a plush-looking white fur shawl.
A clip from Ripley's Believe It or Not! museum where Kim borrowed the gown from, she was seen panicking as she could not fit into the dress due to her large derriere. However, despite not being a proper fit, Kim was relieved when she heard that the dress could be tied at the back and covered with a white fur shawl for the event.

Moreover, she went on an extreme diet that caused her to lose 16 lbs in a period of three weeks. No carbohydrates and sugar, Kim just ate tomatoes during this time.

As per witnesses, Monroe had to be sewn into the dress before she could perform for the President. This iconic dress was brought from Julien's Auction for $4.81million and has been on display at Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum in Orlando. It was designed by Jean Louis.
When Kim realized that she was not fitting into the dress perfectly and the fact that it could not be altered to her size, she began to cry. Speaking to Vogue, Kim revealed how she lost the extra pounds. She said, "'I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein,' she told the outlet. 'I didn't starve myself, but I was so strict."
Marylin's measurements have been debated for decades but the dressmaker stated she was 5'5" tall and had a 35" bust, 22" waist, and 35" hips making her a unique hourglass figure.
Kim, on the other hand, shared her numbers saying, "I am a size 27 jeans… My measurements are 38, 26, 39. But remember I am 5'2″ and 1/2 and everyone carries their weight in different places." To preserve the dress, Kim did not wear any body makeup. "I'm extremely respectful to the dress and what it means to American history. I would never want to sit in it or eat in it or have any risk of any damage to it and I won’t be wearing the kind of body makeup I usually do," she told Vogue before the Met Gala 2022 event.
