Kim Kardashian faced a backlash for allegedly editing her social media snaps after photos from the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty revealed the actual texture of her skin.
The 41-year-old reality star, known for flaunting her flawless looks in sultry photos to her millions of fans on social media, was called out on Reddit as eagle-eyed observers compared a social snap to professional photos taken at the Saturday, March 26 soiree. The fashion mogul looked considerably different from photos posted to her Instagram, with some accusing the star of setting "unrealistic standards" of beauty.

One fan wrote on Reddit, "When you're so used to seeing the smoothed filtered photos it’s a bit of a shock when we get a real image. She looks fabulous in both photos. But different." Another offered, "Exactly lol she looks FINE they need to quit setting the unrealistic standards for themselves because that’s what p***es off everyone anyways." Someone else chimed in, "Feel the same way. I saw all the Getty Images and was like woah. It’s not that they look bad without the photoshop. We’re just so used to seeing so much photoshop that the real-life version ends up being a shock."
Kardashian grabbed headlines for similar reasons in January when she deleted one of her Instagram snaps after being accused of photoshopping her enviable figure. Fans were initially delighted when she shared a series of swimsuit-clad snaps from her recent Bahamas getaway with boyfriend Pete Davidson. Internet sleuths, however, were quick to notice that her leg looked distorted in one image, with an unnatural curve appearing below her knee. As the pic went viral, Kardashian lost no time in deleting the post and re-uploading the gallery without the picture in question.
This comes after it emerged last week that Kardashian was trying to "distance herself" from her ex-husband Kanye's Instagram drama. The two were married from 2014 until 2021 before the reality star decided to move on and is currently dating Saturday Night Live star Davidson. An insider claimed Kardashian is trying to distance herself from the 'Donda' rapper after his antics led him to be banned from Instagram and pulled from the Grammys after he allegedly hurled a racial slur at comic Trevor Noah.
According to the Daily Mail, the source explained that the SKIMS founder "just wants to concentrate on co-parenting with Kanye" -- with whom she has North, eight; Saint, six; Chicago, four; and Psalm, two -- and that she is "really enjoying' her new relationship." Kardashian was previously married to music producer Damon Thomas from 2000 to 2004. She later took the holy vows with basketball player Kris Humphries in 2011, but the pair divorced in 2013.
Kardashian and West began dating in 2012 itself and announced they were expecting their first child. They welcomed North in 2013 and tied the knot the following year in a lavish and exclusive wedding ceremony held in Italy. The pair had Saint in 2015, before daughter Chicago and son Psalm came into their lives in 2018 and 2019 respectively. In February last year, Kardashian filed for divorce and was declared legally single earlier this month. She began dating comedian Davidson last October.
