'Did she not learn her lesson?': Kim Kardashian channels Marilyn Monroe for D&G after Met Gala dress fiasco
Kim Kardashian was seen in the promo video in a Marilyn hair-do while sitting in a limousine
MILAN, ITLAY: SKIMS founder and reality star Kim Kardashian shared a video promotion for the upcoming Dolce & Gabbana fashion show this weekend on Thursday in which she dressed and posed like beauty icon Marilyn Monroe, just a few months after being involved in a 'controversy' for wearing one of Marilyn's famous dresses to the Met Gala.
The 41-year-old donned a tight, low-cut black dress from the fashion label that showed a lot of cleavage. While for her hair, she sported a short, curly blonde wig that had a noticeable resemblance to Marilyn's famous hair-do.
While fashion photographers fought to take her picture throughout the black-and-white ad, Kim is seen 'sexily' sitting in the back seat of a limousine. The mother of four posted the video on Instagram, captioning it "An appetizer before the show," and added the hashtag #CiaoKim. In the video, she pulled out a slice of pizza, took a bite, and then threw the slice aside.
Although 'The Kardashian' star has channeled Marilyn Monroe once again at her best, for some fans the images brought back bad memories of her Met Gala appearance.' "More channeling of Marilyn Monroe? Did (she) not learn her lesson?" one fan asked in a Reddit chat. "She’ll never be Marilyn because Marilyn is Marilyn Monroe," another said. While one fan simply stated: "Such a try hard."
When the Hulu star attended the famous fashion event alongside then-boyfriend Pete Davidson, she had to encounter a number of reactions from her fans. Though her biggest critic was the actual designer of the dress itself, who slammed the stunt. "I thought it was a big mistake," fashion designer Bob Mackie told Entertainment Weekly at the time. "[Marilyn] was a goddess. A crazy goddess, but a goddess. She was just fabulous. Nobody photographs like that. And it was done for her. It was designed for her." He added, "Nobody else should be seen in that dress." It was in the year 1962 when Marilyn wore the iconic gown while singing “Happy Birthday” to President John F Kennedy.
Kim is the new face for high-end Italian luxury brand Dolce & Gabbana’s latest campaign. Ever since Kourtney’s wedding to Travis Barker in May, the Milan fashion house has had a close connection to the Kardashian family, as it provided the wedding outfits.
