NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Political rivals Kellyanne Conway and Andrew Cuomo were pictured exiting an Italian restaurant Il Postino on New York's Upper East Side on Monday night, December 19. Only a day later, the former White House advisor has spoken out to clarify that the late-night dinner meal with the disgraced former New York Governor was "not romantic."

While the unexpected meeting turned several heads, Conway slammed the rumors speculating that the pair had a romantic meal together to the NY Post on Tuesday, December 20. “Italians prefer eating to Zoom. We could have invited his brother, Christopher, but it’s unclear that he eats carbs,” she told the outlet. “Nothing romantic. I’ve known the [Cuomo] family for decades.” The Republican, 55, and the Democrat, 65, were snapped together at around 10:00 pm.

Kellyanne Conway says Trump's legacy will survive after Capitol riots, Internet calls her 'absolutely deranged'

Cuomo is reportedly currently single, while Conway is married to an attorney and vocal Trump critic George Conway. Conway also indicated that the discussions ranged from talking about how they both had podcasts which are produced by the same company, Quake Media to talking of a series of political issues in which she, a Republican, and Cuomo, a Democrat, could “find common ground.”

Kellyanne Conway, counselor to President Donald Trump, walks back into the West Wing following an interview with FOX outside the White House July 07, 2020 in Washington, DC. In response to the forthcoming book by the president's niece, Mary Trump, Conway said, 'Family matters should be family matters. I think the thin-skinned, troubled, living-in-glass-house, mainstream media members who think people's families are their business ought to really think thrice the next time they do that.'

“My policy portfolio included nonpartisan issues like veterans and the drug crisis, now worse than ever,” Conway told the outlet. “Looking to re-engage on that and it requires working across the aisle.” “Sharing a meal with Governor Christie next week on same,” she said, referring to former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

One witness present at the Italian restaurant during that time backed up Conway’s claim that the dinner date was not “not romantic,” as they said Tuesday that the duo was “not affectionate” toward each other and they were only “drinking wine and talking,” over the span of two hours.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo declares a state of emergency Tuesday due to the ongoing violence on July 06, 2021 in New York City. The new declaration by Cuomo will come with millions of dollars for gun and violence prevention programs across the state. The governor also announced that he will be signing a law that bars individuals with active warrants from buying a gun in the state of New York. Over the July 4th holiday weekend, 51 people were shot in New York.

Earlier this week, the pair caused a stir as they were spotted together in absence of Conway’s husband. The meeting between two people from opposite sides of the political fence raised several eyebrows. “The idea that Andrew’s meeting with Kellyanne Conway has caused this much of a stir is frankly really sad, but speaks volumes about where we are as a people,” said Cuomo’s sister, Madeline to The Post. “The level of vitriol and animosity has risen to new heights and people no longer understand what it is they’re disagreeing about in the first place.  No one talks about issues, but rather adopts the position of `their chosen leader’ and sticks to it, because that’s what they’re supposed to believe.”
