Kellyanne Conway says Trump's legacy will survive after Capitol riots, Internet calls her 'absolutely deranged'

Conway appeared on Bill Maher's show where she spoke about Trump's greatness and how his legacy will survive the violence at the Capitol

Political pundit and former counselor to President Donald Trump, Kellyanne Conway, has once again spoken in favor of her ex-boss. Speaking to Bill Maher on Friday, Conway asserted that Trump's legacy "will survive" despite popular belief that it's been tarnished beyond repair in the wake of the insurrection at the US Capitol on January 6. Conway called the attempted coup and the unrest that it caused "inexcusable" and refused to give in to the fact that the rioters were Trump supporters. She said that the group that assembled at the building did not represent most of the people who voted for the president in the elections.

"I think that those marauders and murderers, I think that they insult, not represent, the whole Trump movement and that 74 million is not a base, it's a large percentage of this country," she told the host of 'Real Time With Bill Maher'. Conway was dumbfounded when Maher noted a couple of points related to the president, one of them being "people have said he did lie a little more than most presidents," to which she did have a comeback ready. But she certainly wasn't ready for what came next. She once said that the president didn't hurl personal insults and Maher then went on to recite a laundry list of names that Trump used to describe him over the years. Some of them included, "a dummy, dopey, dumbest man on television, needs to cut back on the pot, dumb as a rock, moron, stupid guy, a very dumb guy, third rate comedian, insane, wacko," and Conway could do nothing but digress from the subject.

She then went on to criticize the businesses that have distanced themselves from the president after the violence at the Capitol, stated a Newsweek report. "I know they vote every two to four years, but they consume products and services every day and I think that corporate America makes a big mistake trying to lump them all together and just ignore them," Conway said while also adding, "But for me, I look at the good that was done to help impact people's lives positively."

Some of these companies she's talking about have paused funding for those who voted against the certification of the 2020 election results, while others suspended the social media accounts of the president. This includes Facebook and Instagram and the former even announced that it would be pausing all political donations while it reviews its policies "for at least the current quarter." Twitter too permanently suspended the president's account to curb "the risk of further incitement of violence." Best Buy, American Express, Morgan Stanley, Verizon, Airbnb, AT&T too were a few of the companies that suspended contributions for those who voted against the certification of the election results.

Conway resigned from her position in August 2020 after her teenage daughter, Claudia, went on Twitter to bash her mom and her job saying that it "ruined her life". Claudia wrote, "My mother’s job ruined my life to begin with. heartbreaking that she continues to go down that path after years of watching her children suffer. selfish. it’s all about money and fame, ladies and gentlemen." Shortly after, Conway announced she was quitting her position to focus on her family and give them "less drama, more mama."

Fans who watched the interview took to Twitter to slam Maher for allowing Conway, who some branded a "criminal", to be on his show. "Why would you have a criminal like Kellyanne Conway to rehab her image? She should never be allowed to show her face in public. She bears responsibility to the mess we are in and for that reason I did not watch this week," wrote a user. While another said, "Listening to Kellyanne Conway on Bill Maher - Kellyanne is still defending trump. Absolutely deranged. She’s still got it!" Another angry user commented, "You’re defending and lied every GD day for a racist, misogynist, white supremacist, sick, disgusting man who stole babies from their mothers. It doesn’t get any worse than that. But then again, what would you know about being a mother. @billmaher"

Another tweet read, "Watched @KellyannePolls on @billmaher today. She’s a great political marketer, aka bullshitter. She has her nicely curated talking points memorized, she talks fast and assertively, without any regard for the truthfulness. And @billmaher only mildly pushed back on her nonsense." Another angry user tweeted, "Getting to @RealTimers @billmaher and I want to yell ALTERNATIVE FACTS at @KellyannePolls every time I see her. How does this demon sleep at night? Remember, this administration put children in cages and separated them from their parents not to mention other horrors. Fuck her."
