She was battling critical injuries after being hit by a motorized scooter on June 4, while she was walking down the road in New York City. Confirming the news of her tragic death at the age of 65, her representative said, "We are heartsick over Lisa's tragic and senseless passing. She was a woman of great spirit, kindness and generosity and dedicated to her work, whether on stage or in front of a camera and even more so to her wife, family and friends. We were blessed to have had her in our lives."
Banes is survived by her wife Kathryn Kranhold, a veteran journalist with considerable repute. Though the couple had always been very private about their relationship, Kranhold actively interacted with the media after Banes' accident. According to Newsweek, she even issued a plea for help to track down the driver of the scooter which hit Banes near Lincoln Center in NYC. Lisa Banes's untimely death comes on the heels of the tragic deaths of legendary actors and actresses like Ned Beatty, Clarence Williams III, Kevin Clark, Romy Walthall, and many others.

While speaking about Banes after her accident, Kranhold said, "We have several days ahead of us to pray for Lisa. If anyone has any information about the scooter driver, we ask them to please call police."
Who is Kathryn Kranhold?
According to Stars Offline, Lisa Banes and Kathryn Kranhold have been together for around six years. It is not known how the duo met each other, but it is believed that they got married in an intimate wedding ceremony attended only by close friends and family.
Kranhold is 61-years-old at present, making her four years younger than her wife Lisa Banes. She was born Kathryn Jean Kranhold and spent time on both East and West Coasts of the USA while growing up. After pursuing her graduation from Universit of Southern California, she earned a Master's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri - School of Journalism.
As of 2021, Kranhold has over 34 years of experience in the field of mainstream journalism. She started her career in 1986 by joining The Hartford Courant where she worked for a decade. In August 1996, Kranhold joined The Wall Street Journal where she worked for nearly 12 years. Her time at WSJ saw her covering a wide range of industries - from energy to law to advertising.
