Best grandpa: Arnold Schwarzenegger bought miniature pony for his granddaughters that he keeps in his backyard, Katherine Pratt reveals
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt admitted that she looks up to her mother Maria Shriver and her father Arnold Schwarzenegger for their parenting and grandparenting skills. The 'Terminator' star, 75, has a mini pony in his backyard that his granddaughters adore.
The author commended her parents for how they raised her and how actively involved they are in the lives of her two daughters, two-year-old Lyla Maria, and eight-month-old Eloise Christina. Katherine revealed that both of her parents live close to her and her husband Chris Pratt, 43. The 33-year-old novelist also stated that her journalist mother, 67, hosts a weekly mommy-and-me class for Lyla and her friends.

Katherine looks up to her parents for their parenting skills
"I know this sounds crazy, but I really would love to just do exactly what they did," Katherine told The New York Times of Shriver and Schwarzenegger's parenting. The mom of two continued, "I look back on how much of life my parents kept private, and I have a lot of respect for it. I think they kept a lot of their relationship private, they kept us kids private, you know, they didn't take us to red carpets, they didn't have us parading around in front of everybody."
She shared that she had no interest in carrying on her family's political tradition and that she wasn't sure she could see the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' actor going down that path either. However, she wants to continue to live and raise her children according to the principles her family has taught her. "I want to be like how my parents always raised us," she said, "to work really hard and to be really good people and to leave the world a better place."
'Good Night, Sister'
Katherine's new book 'Good Night, Sister', which is inspired by her relationship with her younger sister Christina, is set to release on February 7. She acknowledged thinking about how she wanted her oldest daughter, Lyla, to experience growing up with a sibling when she began writing her book.
Katherine was born and raised in the Palisades, where she now lives with her actor husband and their two children. They married in 2019 and Katherine is also stepmother to Pratt's 10-year-old son, Jack, who the 'Passengers' star shares with his ex-wife Anna Faris, 46.
