Chris Pratt endorses real-estate billionaire Rick Caruso for LA mayor post, 'bold move' evokes mixed reactions
LOS ANGELES. CALIFORNIA: Chris Pratt has decided to back a billionaire running in the Los Angeles race for mayor. On Sunday, November 6, the actor took to his Instagram stories to support Rick Caruso ahead of the midterm elections. Caruso is a former president of the Los Angeles Police Commission and has also served as a commissioner for the Los Angeles Department of Water. Pratt's support for the billionaire has evoked mixed reactions from his fans online.
The 43-year-old actor endorsed the 63-year-old businessman Rick Caruso saying that the city where he has lived "for over 20 years" has declined into "pain and utter disarray." The 'Guardians of the Galaxy' actor wrote in his Instagram story, "I've lived in LA for over 20 years. It's been great to me. In that time I've seen what many residents here have seen, the city's gradual decline into pain and utter disarray. If you live here, you know exactly what I'm talking about. I don't normally support political candidates. But in this election, there's too much to lose." Pratt, supporting the billionaire, wrote, "If you're an LA voter, I urge you to vote for @rickcarusola. He's a builder. He knows how to get s--t done. He's the guy for our city. Rick Caruso for LA Mayor."

Rick Caruso has received active support from fellow billionaire Elon Musk and even Pratt's mother-in-law Maria Shriver. Caruso will be facing Congresswoman Karen Bass in Tuesday's midterms on November 8, as both parties are running to replace termed-out mayor Eric Garcetti. Caruso has earned a fortune from his real-estate business and now the people of LA have to choose between him and Bass, a former social worker who has fought and advocated for Los Angeles disadvantaged communities for decades. Chris Pratt's endorsement for Rick Caruso has evoked mixed reactions as people are split in regard to this bold move.

However, not everyone was in support of this bold decision as one user sarcastically wrote, "Yes because electing the ultra wealthy into political leadership positions has historically worked out so well," to which another user hit back, saying, "Time for the elitists Left to cancel Chris Pratt. How dare he call out the obvious that another Democrat run city is in disarray!" Another user slammed Pratt and tweeted, "An uber -wealthy famous white man saying he’s watch LA’s “gradual decline into pain and utter disarray” from his mansion in the hills is disgusting, actually"
