LONDON, ENGLAND: Kate Middleton has "built up resentment" toward sister-in-law Meghan Markle after she had to stay back in Windsor as Queen Elizabeth II died at Balmoral in an attempt to prevent the 'Suits' actress from traveling to Scotland. Thus, when other senior royals rushed to share the final moments with the Queen, the Princess of Wales missed saying goodbye to her beloved monarch and blames Meghan for it.

The decision was taken on King Charles' request as it was “not appropriate” for spouses to be by the queen’s deathbed, according to Robert Jobson, author of the new tell-all 'Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed.' The royal biographer added that Prince Harry might have insisted to bring his wife to Scotland if the Princess of Wales was there. Thus, Middleton stayed back at Adelaide Cottage and was spotted picking up her children Prince George and Princess Charlotte from school on the day she had "wanted to be there with the Queen."

Queen was concerned that Prince Harry was 'a little over-in love' with Meghan Markle, book claims

'That’s eaten Kate up and has built up resentment towards Meghan'

"The King said it was only for the children and grandchildren to be with the Queen," Jobson told the Daily Telegraph in Australia as per the Daily Mail,  stressing that the decision was made upon Charles' orders, even though Sophie Wessex traveled to Balmoral. "Privately, he wanted to say Meghan was not welcome. But he couldn't say that to Harry, so he personally intervened and asked Kate to stay back so that it was fairer on Meghan," he continued, as per a report in the NZ Herald. Middleton, however, wanted to fly to Balmoral to see the monarch one last time before she died due to their close friendship. "Kate deliberately stayed away but she desperately wanted to be there with the Queen in her last moments. That’s eaten Kate up and has built up resentment towards Meghan," Jobson wrote.

Who was with Queen Elizabeth during her final moments?

Meanwhile, members of the royal family including Charles, his wife Camilla, and Princess Anne had rushed to the Queen's side in Scotland. Her doctor Huw Thomas was also present during her final moments. William, 40, as well as Prince Edward, his wife Sophie, and Prince Andrew also flew to the Firm’s Scottish residence after hearing the news of the Queen's deteriorating health. Prince Harry had also arrived, although he failed to reach the estate before his grandmother's death at the age of 96.

Prince Harry's final words to the late Queen

In his explosive memoir Spare, the Duke of Sussex revealed the emotional final words that he whispered to his grandmother just hours after her death. The father-of-two described how he told Queen Elizabeth that he "hoped she was happy" and would be reunited with his late grandfather Prince Philip. He also told her that he “admired her for having carried out her duties until the end.”
