Rapper Wraps: Kanye West is BACK on Instagram as he REDESIGNS McDonald's packaging
Kanye West returned to Instagram on Monday, May 23 after his account was suspended. To no one's surprise, the iconic rapper is back with a bang. He announced on the platform that he is redesigning the food packaging for the globally loved fast-food chain McDonald's. Ye's Instagram had been suspended for 24 hours back on March 16, 2022.
He captioned this post, "Ye teams up with legendary Muji industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa to reimagine McDonald's packaging." He took to his Instagram Stories and wrote, "Next week it's the fries." which was in reference to one of his tracks from 2005 where the artist rapped, "This week he moppin' floors, next week it's the fries."

McDonald's, on the other hand, is yet to comment on this collaboration on social media platforms like Twitter or Instagram. By this sneak peek that Kanye has shared on his Instagram, the revamped packaging definitely has a touch of Kanye to it. It features a transparent cover and has a boxy shape. This also speaks of his clothing line Yeezy which was minimal.
Stating the obvious, the new packaging is poles apart from the classic McDonald's packaging that always featured vibrant, eye-catchy colors of the fast-food chain's logo.
Though Ye's collaboration with McDonald's feels a little out of the left-field, he has openly expressed his love for the fast-food chain, especially in the poem McDonalds Man. Kanye and his former wife Kim Kardashian were featured in one of McDonald's Instagram posts back in 2020 where they disclosed their go-to and favorite orders. This included everything from sides to mains and even beverages. The post was captioned, "Verified Everyone has an order. May we take yours? And yes, all featured orders are the person’s actual go-to order. Except Dracula. We made that one up."
Kim's order was chicken McNuggets, shake, French fries, hamburger, and an apple pie.
This announcement where Kanye and McDonald's joined hands is the first post Ye has made after his account was suspended following his attacks on Kim and her beau Pete Davidson via Instagram. A spokesperson for Meta, the company that owns Instagram, said, "rapper's posts violated their policies on hate speech, harassment and bullying" to TMZ. Kanye said that he was 'really concerned' that Pete would get Kim 'hooked on drugs'. He also demanded Pete 'apologize to your family for being in your family.'
