2019 MAMA trends on Twitter across 55 countries after K-Pop fans create massive buzz with over 100 million tweets
Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), the biggest K-pop award show in the world, has teamed with Twitter to engage K-Pop fans for the #2019MAMA event.
Over three million people from across the globe tuned in to watch 2019 MAMA Red Carpet Live and #TwitterBlueRoom ‘Thank You stage’.
BTS swept the Daesangs (Grand Prizes), taking home all four including Album of the Year for 'Map of the Soul: Persona', Worldwide Icon of the Year, Song of the Year for 'Boy With Luv', and Artist of the Year, at the 21st edition of the annual awards held in Nagoya, Japan.
Never-seen-before videos featuring exclusive content from K-Pop artists and live streams flooded the microblogging site during the event and generated over 102 million tweets with hashtags like #2019MAMA, #MAMARedCarpet and #MnetAsianMusicAwards.
Conversations started from October 24 and ended on December 4 with participation from 55 countries and the highest volume from South Korea, USA, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Argentina, Kuwait, and Egypt and Latin America.
With actor Park Bo Gum as host, the award show generated a lot of chatter.
One fan posted, "BTS has completed another Daesang sweep, winning all 4 Daesangs at 2019 MAMA," and another said, "Congratulations to WayV for winning Best New Asian Artist at 2019 MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards)."

"When TXT were giving their ROTY speech, Taekook were so proud that Namjoon had to force them to sit. Also, when Taehyung found out it was Soobin’s birthday tomorrow, he wished him hbd at the end I’m soft," one Twitter user wrote.
The event was a hot topic on Twitter much before the award show commenced, and the top ten hashtags used on Twitter during 2019 MAMA were #MAMAVOTE, #BTS, #EXO, #GOT7, #2019MAMA, #SEVENTEEN, #X1, #MONSTAX, #TWICE and #TXT.
