YG Entertainment has confirmed that Blackpink will make their comeback this June.

A representative from YG Entertainment revealed in a statement to ExSports News on May 4 that the all-girls K-pop group was gearing up for their return, stating "Blackpink is scheduled to come back in June." The rep also added, "When the exact date is announced, we plan to inform the fans first. Thank you."

Blackpink's last release was their 2019 mini-album 'Kill This Love', which met with both critical acclaim and commercial success. The album peaked at number 24 on Billboard 200 while the album's title song peaked at number 41 on the Billboard Hot 100, making the group the highest-charting female K-pop act on the Billboard charts, in addition to them being the first female K-pop group to have four number-one singles on the 'World Digital Song Sales' chart.

The music video for 'Kill This Love' broke the record for the most views within 24 hours upon its release, accumulating 56.7 million views. The video has crossed the 800 million view mark and might just break the 1 billion mark by the time the group makes their 2020 comeback. In addition to its success on YouTube, the song also became the best-charting song of a South Korean girl group in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Blackpink also currently holds the distinction of being the most-subscribed music group on YouTube.

Despite their monumental success, however, the group have only put out one studio album so far, 2018's 'Blackpink in Your Area', which was a Japanese language compilation album that included material from their previous releases such as their self-titled Japanese EP and debut Korean mini-album 'Square Up'. Apart from this release, the group has released two Korean EPs which included their seven Korean singles and three Japanese EPs.

Fans of the group, officially referred to as 'BLINKs', have eagerly awaited a comeback from the group since their highly successful run in 2019, but YGE has remained mostly silent until now. While no information regarding their comeback concepts has been released, Star News has reported that Blackpink has already finished recording for the upcoming album and will begin shooting their music video this month.

In the meantime, the group collaborated with Lady Gaga on 'Sour Candy', the 10th track off the singer's latest album 'Chromatica' which is scheduled to release later this year.
