Julian Casablancas' The Voidz announce fall tour, including dates with Beck and Phoenix
Julian Casablancas' wonderfully strange experimental rock project the Voidz have just extended their 2018 tour in support of their new album 'Virtue' to include another North American leg this fall, reports Rolling Stone.
After playing sold-out residencies in New York and Philadelphia, Julian Casablancas and company have since expanded their itinerary into Halloween season. As Rolling Stone points out, on a few dates, they’ll even share a spot or two with Beck or Phoenix.
The new dates kick-off with a show alongside Beck on September 13 at the Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota and wrap up on October 6 with a headlining gig at the Heights Theater in Houston, Texas. The Voidz will play four more shows with Beck during the tour (in St. Louis, Missouri, Kansas City, Missouri, Lincoln, Nebraska and Salt Lake City, Utah), as well as two gigs with Phoenix - October 4 in Austin, TX, and October 5 in Dallas. The Voidz also added a show to the end of their ongoing summer run, which now wraps on August 5 at Beach Goth in Los Angeles, instead of the previously announced gig at The Chapel in San Francisco. Considering the fact that The Voidz are a fairly low-key outfit as compared to Casablancas' era-defining band The Strokes, the sprawl of tour dates is quite impressive indeed. 'Virtue', the group’s latest album, released earlier in March via RCA Records and received mostly favorable reviews as well as great reception from fans. Consequence of Sound called it “the most interesting record of Casablancas’ career” and Rolling Stone rated the album 3.5 out of 5, calling it a "sprawling, unpredictable mess that finds beauty and sometimes depth by looking for it everywhere."
