'Very open to the idea': Julia Wandelt takes DNA test to verify if she is missing Swiss girl Livia Schepp
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Julia Wandelt, the woman who believes she is Madeleine McCann, has gone forward with a DNA test to confirm her real identity after people claimed online that she might be the missing Swiss girl, Livia Schepp. The 21-year-old Polish woman grabbed headlines for claiming she was McCann, who went missing from Portugal during a holiday in May 2007.
Wandelt, who also uses the surnames Wendell and Faustyna, is the creator of an Instagram page, called iammadeleinemcann, where she shares posts to substantiate her claims. She stated that she had the same marks like McCann. She wrote in one of her posts, “I have Mark in the same eye, but my Mark is faded and I talked with eye doctor and he told me that it could be operated and I will go to doctor again to check it. I need Police investigator who will take it seriously!”

‘Julia is very open to the idea’
Recently, when some web sleuths claimed she looked more like Schepp, who went missing with her six-year-old twin sister Alessia in 2011, Wandelt reportedly decided to work toward that. Dr Fia Johansson, a private detective and psychic who is helping the young woman in her case, told The Sun, “Julia is very open to the idea that she may be Livia Schepp and we are investigating this possibility.”
The detective went on to explain, “I've spoken to her about this and she is open to the fact she could be any missing child out there - not just Madeleine. Julia just wants to know the truth about who she is. One of the reasons she made the connection to Madeleine is because one of the suspects in Madeleine's case looks very much like a man who she says abused her as a child.”
“But the same man could be connected to Madeleine and other missing children - this is how predators and traffickers work. Julia has taken a DNA test and we are investigating if it's possible to check her DNA with that of missing Livia. We are investigating all possibilities at this stage,” Johansson added.
‘Julia is our daughter’
This comes after Wandelt's family issued a statement through the Polish missing persons organization, Missing Years Ago. It read, “For us, as a family, it is obvious that Julia is our daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and step-niece. We have memories, we have pictures. Julia also has these photos, because she took them from the family home with the birth certificate, as well as numerous hospital discharges.”
“We always tried to understand all situations that happened with Julia. Numerous therapies, medicines, psychologists, and psychiatrists - Julia had it all guaranteed. She wasn't left alone. Threats to our address from Julia, her lies and manipulations, activity on the internet. We've seen it all and we've tried to prevent it, to explain, we've asked her to stop,” the statement continued, adding, “Julia once wanted to be a singer, a model. She always wanted to be popular. What's happening now she got one million followers.”
