LONDON, ENGLAND: A psychic who spoke to the Polish woman claiming she is Madeleine McCann has urged the public to stop hating on her and "respect her privacy." Julia Wandelt went viral in recent weeks over her claims that she is the missing British girl who disappeared at the age of three in Portugal's Praia da Luz back in 2007.

Julia, who has also been referred to as Julia Faustyna and Julia Wendell online, made several posts on social media comparing her physical features both with those of the missing minor and her parents. The 21-year-old subsequently urged law enforcement in her country and in the UK to compare DNA samples. Her claims sparked quite a backlash on social media, prompting her to seek help from a self-professed psychic, Dr Fia Johansson, who claims to have helped US law enforcement on several missing person cases.

'She needs help'

The Persian medium issued a public statement saying she was investigating Julia's case and urged the public to "respect her privacy" and stop hating on the woman. "Julia's mental health, at this moment, it's not okay because of a lot of haters out there, because of a lot of comments, and a lot of nastiness that went through directly to her skin," Johansson said in an Instagram post that has garnered thousands of likes. "At this moment, she needs help. I do understand that 50 percent of you guys hate her now to the hundredth degree, just because you guys think and believe that she's 'not the real person, that she's not Madeleine, she's this and that."

The medium continued, "I'm telling you guys, my team and me, we are investigating already about her family, her background, where she came from, which family she belonged to, what school actually she went to, and all other details. We understand that this case, Madeleine's case, would be very sensitive for every, each of you." Johansson wrote in the caption that there was "no need to spew hatred, judgment and especially threats" as Julia "is a human being who deserves respect" regardless of anyone's opinions. "This is unacceptable and needs to stop," she added.

DNA test

Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry McCann are said to have accepted Julia's request for a DNA test after her claims that she was previously ignored by police. "The family is taking no chances, they are willing to look at all leads," a source close to the family told the Daily Star. "It is important they look at all of the factors, the girl does look similar. There’s no disputing that. If what she says is true, there is every chance it could be her. It all adds up."

Questionable evidence

It's worth noting that Wandelt's claims are backed by very little proof that she is indeed the missing British minor. The 21-year-old said she first heard she could be the grown-up Maddie from a grandmother a couple of months ago. She has since documented her apparent physical similarities with Madeleine on social media, including a distinct brown smudge on each girl’s right iris. “I have similar eyes, shape of face, ears, lips, I had the gap between the teeth [as Madeleine],” she insisted in one post, sharing side-by-side photos of herself and the abducted child.

Furthermore, Julia alleged she had been abused by a “German pedophile" in her childhood, but hasn't elaborated on her claim nor identified her abuser. Private detective Francisco Marco, who was linked to the Madeleine McCann case, cast doubts on the Polish woman's claims, saying "it does not add up to me."
