Julia Wandelt deletes social media accounts after online backlash for claiming she’s Madeleine McCann
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: A young woman, who believes herself to be Madeleine McCann, has reportedly removed her social media pages after trolls accused her of lying. Julia Wandelt, who also uses Wendell and Faustyna as her surnames, has thousands of followers on Instagram, where she keeps sharing details to prove herself to be the missing toddler, who vanished from a holiday home in 2007.
But recently, she took to Instagram Stories to post several statements that said she was taking down her accounts on TikTok and Facebook. A statement released by her on Friday, February 24, apparently read, “If you don't like me, please unfollow. I don't want fans or followers. I closed my Facebook account and TikTok so people can't make fun of me.”

‘Why [are] you hating my only source of happiness'
Apartment from that, the 21-year-old Polish woman also defended self-proclaimed psychic Dr. Fia Johansson, who is said to be helping her in finding her real identity. Julia reportedly wrote, “Why [are] you hating my only source of happiness and hope. Why [do] you guys disbelieve a person who worked so hard for me to get answer[s] to my doubt.”
She went on to say in the now-disappeared post, “I saw with my own eye what powerful resource[s] she has and what she did until now. She is helping me so much, I'm not crying anymore, I'm not [as] sad as [a] couple days ago and I am so happy to have her in my life.”
The young woman also pointed out how old people had tried to misuse her vulnerability. It has been alleged that she was contacted by sexual predators, claiming themselves to be relatives of Madeleine McCann’s family. Dr. Johansson told RadarOnline.com, “It’s very dangerous for her to do anything right now because she has no idea what she is doing and at the same time her family is not very supportive."
“My investigators found out three pedophiles were trying to lure Julia to hotels saying they were McCann family friends trying to solve the Madeleine mystery. It is truly a sad situation,” she added.
'She deserves respect and decency'
The doctor also issued a statement of support for Julia while urging people to be a little kind towards her. She posted on her Instagram page, “The backlash is truly awful to see. Julia is a human being, clearly seeking help and answers. To attack people in momenta of vulnerability or confusion is truly a sad situation. It has to stop! I am doing all that is possible to help Julia in her search. She deserves answers and she deserves respect and decency.”
In another post, Dr. Fia Johansson added, “My team is still mid investigation into Julia’s history and family background. Regardless of the negativity flying around out there, this is an innocent young woman who is searching for her identity.”
