'Raccoon eyes': Julia Fox trolled for edgy dress and heavy eye makeup at Spirit Awards

Julia Fox made another bold fashion statement as she attended the 2022 Film Independent Spirit Awards at Santa Monica, California on Sunday, March 6. The ex-girlfriend of Kanye West, who often gets compared to Ye's estranged wife Kim Kardashian for wearing "similar looks", raised eyebrows in an edgy black dress. 

The 'Uncut Gems' actress, 32, was looking as fierce as ever with her signature heavy eye makeup while she modeled a silver snake bracelet on her arm. With its off-the-shoulder design and hip cut-out, the bold black dress ensured it showcased Julia's incredible body. Her glossy brunette hair was styled into a center part and cascaded down sleek and straight. She finished off the glam with a fresh slick of baby pink lip gloss.

Shortly after Julia's look went viral, many social media users trolled her exaggerated eye-makeup. One wrote, "Julia Fox is really going to regret her current eyeliner aesthetic, among other things." Another added, "Who’s gonna tell Julia Fox that that eyeliner is never going to be a trend?" A third wrote, "Why does Julia Fox make the raccoon eyes her go to look like please why are ppl letting her sabotage herself." A fourth commented, "Julia fox looks like she’s wearing half a fitted bed sheet." A fifth user sarcastically added, "I love Julia Fox’s dark eyeshadow/eyeliner look & I love saying uncut gems ironically."

Usually, the Film Independent Spirit Awards air the day before the Oscars. However, the awards aired on March 6 this year while the Oscar ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 27. The Spirit awards, which went virtual due to Covid-19 in 2021, highlight and celebrate movies that are, for the most part, produced and conceived outside of the Hollywood mainstream. In order to qualify, eligible films have to have budgets of less than $22.5 million.
