Concept
Apart from Jay-Z and Nipsey Hussle showing their rap muscles on the track ‘What It Feels Like’, the movie-inspired album also features top hip-hop artistes like Hit-Boy, A$AP Rocky, Black Thought, Lil Durk, G Herbo, Pooh Shiesty, SiR, Polo G, Nas, Chairman Fred Hampton Jr, singer H.E.R and others. The soundtrack for Fred Hampton’s biopic is executively produced by hip-hop icon Hit-Boy who also features on the solo track ‘Broad Day’ and ‘EPMD’ with Nas.
On the song, ‘What It Feels Like,’ Jay-Z raps, “I'm sellin' weed in the open, bringin' folks home from the feds/ I know that payback's gon' be mean, I'm savin' all my little bread/ Pray for me, y'all, one day I'ma have to pay for these thoughts, Real ni**as is extinct, it ain't safe for me, my dawg.”
The film ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’ sheds light on Fred Hampton, who, in 1969, was allegedly assassinated by the FBI after they compelled a petty criminal by the name of William O’Neal to help them silence Hampton and the Black Panther Party.
'Judas And The Black Messiah' is directed and produced by Shaka King. The screenplay is credited to King and Will Berson, with story by King, Berson and Kenny and Keith Lucas. The film has been produced by Ryan Coogler and Charles King.
