'Hypocrite': Joy Behar goes maskless in NY, hours after saying she may wear one INDEFINITELY
Joy Behar is being branded as a 'hypocrite' after being photographed unmasked inside a New York City restaurant hours after declaring she may wear one indefinitely on national television. "Personally, I listen to the little voice in my head that doesn't really follow 100 percent what they tell me because they keep changing it, so if I go on the subway, if I go in a bus, if I go into the theater …. a crowded place, I would wear a mask, and I might do that indefinitely. Why do I need the flu or a cold even? And so I'm listening to myself right now. I don't think it's 100% safe yet," Behar said on Thursday, February 17.
She made this declaration on The View, as her co-hosts were discussing relaxed mask mandates in New York State and Behar, 79, declared that she would remain masked up despite constantly changing guidelines. The same happened to the New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who is a strong supporter of the mask mandate but her “carefree” attitude while on vacation has angered her opponents. Photos and videos shared on social media showed AOC maskless inside a packed drag bar event in the city while socializing with actor Billy Porter. This comes after Stacey Abrams' outrage where Abrams was seen smiling without a mask on, whereas the kids seated around her had their face masks on.

But she was exposed by The Post Millennial just hours later, after she was snapped chatting with friends in a banquette at a New York restaurant. And Behar had strutted through the restaurant unmasked when her party left despite her friends wearing their masks.
After seeing the photos of Behar unmasked, reporter Libby Emmons said, "Joy Behar said she was going to mask in public places 'indefinitely' because it's just not safe. Except for last night out at this restaurant, apparently." She added, "I hear that she also walked out of the restaurant unmasked, though her companions dutifully donned theirs."

Legally, Behar didn't break any rules, with New York recently dropping a strict mandate which required patrons to show proof of vaccination before being allowed to eat inside restaurants or visit other indoor leisure facilities. But the American comedian had acted as if she was planning to go above-and-beyond during the rece t episode of The View which sparked claims among the public that she is play-acting the Covid-cautious liberal on-screen, only to behave entirely differently in private.
Last week, New York Governor Kathy Hochul dropped the state's strict indoor mask mandate. The mask mandate, which sparked heated debate throughout the state, required businesses to ask customers for proof of full vaccination or require mask-wearing indoors at all times.
This is not the first time, Behar made headlines, recently she trolled DailyMail columnist Meghan McCain's affectionate Valentine's Day post to her husband Ben, by agreeing with another user who commented, "Does every thought and sentiment need to be on Twitter?" Slamming her former colleague on 'The View', Meghan shared a screenshot of Joy's comment - which had been deleted - and branded Joy 'pathetic.'
Behar has had her share of being slammed online. Behar has previously been accused of donning a Black face. In 2016 Behar admitted to dressing up as, what she called, 'a beautiful African woman' which was not received well by all.
