Sherri Shepherd is preparing to launch her own talk show series on September 12 before taking over 'The View' again on September 6. In a sneak peek for her upcoming daytime series, 'Sherri', Shepherd, 55, discussed the nuggets of wisdom she acquired from her former 'The View' co-hosts Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie O'Donnell, and Joy Behar.

Behar's advice, which the 'Less Than Perfect' star recalled, sounded more like a warning than guidance. Shepherd said, "Joy Behar said to me, 'The moment you open up your mouth, half the world is going to hate you,'" in a video released to her official YouTube account on Tuesday, August 30.

Behar has hosted 'The View' since its premiere in 1997 with the exception of a few years in the middle of her reign. Shepherd joined as a co-host from 2007 until 2014. The two recently reconnected when Shepherd discussed her new project on the show's hosting panel in the Bahamas a few months ago.

The '30 Rock' star also quoted Goldberg, 66, who also hosted 'The View'. "She advised that being a host is 'never about you, it's always for someone else... [and] know that you're taking people on a journey'," Shepherd recalled. The 60-year-old O'Donnell, according to Shepherd, provided her "the best advise" of all of her former co-hosts. "She told me how much money she makes," she stated with a smile.

Veteran broadcaster Barbara Walters had also offered Shepherd some words of wisdom. "Barbara Walters said, 'Always be curious, dear, ask questions. Never take no for an answer and Why are you crying?" Shepherd smiled as she completed the sentence.

Over the years, Shepherd had many noteworthy runs on ABC's daytime staple, appearing in roughly 600 episodes overall and even winning the 2009 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host. Shepherd, who will take over Wendy Williams' show, has vowed to make it far more "friendly" for both guests and fans. She also has her name added to the show's name, which is now "Sherri."

"Let's be clear, I'm not a mean person at all!" Shepherd told DailyMail.com. "I'm all about positive energy. I'm about joy. I'm about kindness and laughter. Anyone that knows me will tell you just that." Shepherd, who promised no insults on her show, said she wanted her talk show to reflect her optimistic mindset.

Shepherd said, "As a celebrity myself, I know what it's like to not feel safe appearing on a show or hoping a host doesn't try to have a gotcha-moment with you. It will be a celebrity-friendly zone on Sherri." A final episode of 'The Wendy Williams Show' had aired on June 17, 2022.

Shepherd claims that she is not under any obligation to succeed Williams and is willing to do so. The comedian said, "I only feel pressure to go out there and be authentically Sherri. I put pressure on myself to make sure I'm bringing my best self each time I step onto that set. Making sure I can offer people one hour of joy, laughter and inspiration is the only thing I'm worried about."
