Johnny Depp made a statement by wearing a "truth ring" for his latest appearance in the ongoing legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard. On Thursday, May 19, Depp donned a thick silver ring with the word "truth" inscribed in it in the court.

The ring did attract a lot of users on the Internet. While many of Depp's fans believed that the 58-year-old meant that the truth will prevail, others thought it was a 'wild' choice to wear it to the court.

For weeks, the Heard and Depp have been fighting in court, with their different testimonies splitting fans into both sides. The hashtags #IStandWithJohnnyDepp and #IStandWithAmberHeard are being used by fans to publicly support one or the other. Famous people like Chris Rock, Joe Rogan, Ireland Baldwin, and Eva Green have publicly backed Depp, while Julia Fox, Kathy Griffin, and Howard Stern have backed Heard.

For the uninitiated, Depp is suing Heard, 36, for defamation after she hinted in an op-ed essay for The Washington Post in 2018 that their relationship was abusive. The $50 million lawsuit was first filed by the "Cry Baby" star in March of this year. Heard has filed a $100 million countersuit. Depp's legal team has maintained that Heard's allegations have harmed his reputation and his career by preventing him from landing profitable roles, such as 'Pirates of the Caribbean 6.' Meanwhile, Heard has remained adamant that her claims are real. During their relationship, she claimed Depp assaulted her and threatened to murder her.

'He wears it because truth will win'

Coming to the "Truth ring", many people on Twitter have mixed views. "He wears it because truth will win out no matter if he wins this or not. People know he's innocent of what she has accused him of," a user wrote.

While another user thought that wearing the ring was a wild choice and wrote, "Just more ritual symbolism. I hope he doesn’t think that a metal ring will help him find truth. Wild," while another user wished for truth to triumph wrote, "Yes, we are trusting that the truth will prevail."

As everyone was discussing the ring's engraving, one user couldn't help but notice the Fiji bottle. "I'm more concerned that he filled his Fiji water bottle up with urine but okkkk." Another individual who noticed the Fiji bottle wrote: "Whiskey in Fiji?" to which a user replied, "Seems like they both might be drinking there’s a clip from a day ago of amber leaving and throwing her bottle away, then you see an officer behind her touch his ear piece like he’s being told something, and afterwards he goes and grabs her bottle out of the trash."
