NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Camille Vasquez, who became an overnight sensation while representing Johnny Depp in his contentious defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard, has joined NBC as an on-air legal analyst. On her first day, she started by discussing the Idaho murders.

The Depp versus Heard trial concluded in June 2022. After winning, the 'Edward Scissorhands' actor was awarded $15M in punitive and compensatory damages. Just seven months after Vasquez and her firm won the case, she made her debut with NBC after fielding multiple job offers from popular firms and networks.

Vasquez made her first appearance with the NBC Network during a segment on the 'Today' show, where she discussed the recent University of Idaho students' murders. Host Hoda Kotb introduced her as the legal analyst for the network, and went on to ask Vasquez her thoughts on how social media and internet might affect the case. "This has become something that really captivated the country," Vasquez said about the case, adding, "And so people want to talk about the evidence, they want to talk about the human impact. I think it can be helpful to investigators, they pleaded to the public and asked for information about the murder suspect Bryan Kohberger’s white car, but it could also be harmful, when you start naming someone."

As per International Business Times, Vasquez believed police may have even more damning evidence against the suspect. TMZ also reported that according to Vasquez, 28-year-old Kohberger had a steep hill to climb. She went on to say that investigators and prosecutors did not reveal everything right from the start. She suggested there might be even more damning evidence beyond what has been revealed so far in the police affidavit which included DNA, cell phone data and eyewitness accounts. Vasquez said that they probably put just enough in the document to get a probable cause for an arrest, but added that more could be revealed in court.

Vasquez is reportedly still a partner at law firm Brown Rudnick LLP, where she serves as co-chair of its brand and reputation management group. She went to Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles from 2007 to 2010 and worked at a law firm before joining Brown Rudnick as an associate. According to her bio on the law firm's website, she focuses on "plaintiff-side defamation suits, with additional experience litigating contract disputes, business-related torts, and employment-related claims."
