In September, Ted Cruz initiated a controversy when he claimed that Chrissy Teigen didn’t have an abortion, and instead had a miscarriage in 2020. Teigen had said, "I told the world we had a miscarriage, the world agreed we had a miscarriage, all the headlines said it was a miscarriage....let’s just call it what it was: it was an abortion. An abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance," at an event in Los Angeles. To which Cruz responded on the podcast, "She may want to characterize it as abortion in this political context but she described it at the time as a miscarriage and it certainly sounds like that was an accurate description."
