NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: JK Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books, has made fun of transgender rights activists who say they won't watch the new TV version of the series as she says she's stockpiling champagne. The author, who is said to be worth £850 million, posted on Twitter that she had "dreadful news" to give to her followers before ridiculing those who back equal rights for transgender individuals.

Rowling has been accused of being transphobic because of her numerous claims against the LGBT+ community, notably that transgender men and women shouldn't be allowed to enter single-sex venues that correspond to their gender. Some transgender advocates are now urging a boycott of the new TV program, which is expected to run for ten years and see Rowling have a leading position as a producer.

What did Rowling say?

The author wrote, "Dreadful news, which I feel duty bound to share. Activists in my mentions are trying to organise yet another boycott of my work, this time of the Harry Potter TV show. As forewarned is forearmed, I've taken the precaution of laying in a large stock of champagne." She makes these remarks in response to some Twitter users who urge people that support transgender rights to boycott the show in favor of the LGBT+ community. Later, she went on to say that she was organizing a "party" to commemorate the boycott and offered to message certain accounts with the information.

'Didn't you say you were ending Harry Potter?'

The "Harry Potter" HBO Max series has made significant strides in its production, with the streaming service attempting to reach an agreement with Rowling for the intellectual rights to the universe. Some social media users reacted negatively to the news of the adaptation this month, upset that the author, whom many have labeled "transphobic" for her views on the validity of biological sex and her assertions that trans activists are undermining women's dignity, is producing more "Harry Potter" work.

One such user wrote on Twitter, "Friendly reminder it is SO EASY to boycott Harry Potter. Like so easy." Another added, "Didn't you say you were ending Harry Potter? Did you lie?" "If y’all really loved Harry Potter as much as you say you do, you’d do what Hermione Granger would do and boycott the corporation that’s supporting a person who’s advocating for oppression. Y’all just want to stand with JKR because you don’t think. Or you just hate trans people," claimed one user. Another user said, "For anyone concerned about the new Harry Potter series, consider this: - non-terfs will boycott it - HP purists will boycott it because 'that's not our Harry' - any actors willing to be in it will know that their reputations are at risk. It will flop. Hilariously."

Some individuals tweeted in support of the author. A user hilariously said, "Their last boycott caused Hogwarts Legacy to sell 3.5 times the expected numbers. I wish I had people like this "boycotting" me!" Another user noted, "I'm sure their efforts will go over just as well as the Hogwarts Legacy boycott did." Another user wrote, "Dreadful indeed. You might have to swallow lots of champagne, given that the tide is turning. All my best wishes for your liver.

The seven-season HBO Max series is based on the primary "Harry Potter" books, which were also adapted into the renowned Warner Bros. movies in the 2000s.
