JK Rowling, the famous author, has stirred new controversy and outrage after making carrying on with her transphobic statements. The author of Harry Potter previously has been chastised for her statements against trans people and she didn't hold back on International Women's Day. It’s all started on Tuesday (March 8),  when Labour's Shadow Equalities Minister Anneliese Dodds appeared on the BBC's Woman's Hour, where she was asked how to define a woman by presenter Emma Barnett. The 56-year-old novelist was enraged by her reaction as Dodds struggled to describe what it means to be a woman, claiming there is a distinction between the legal and biological definitions.

Dodds subsequently tweeted on International Women's Day, “Labour will lift women up, not hold them back. Because we are the party of equality #IWD2022.” Rowling responded via Twitter, “This morning you told the British public you literally can’t define what a woman is. What’s the plan, lift up random objects until you find one that rattles?”

“Someone please send the Shadow Minister for Equalities a dictionary and a backbone. #HappyInternationalWomensDay. Apparently, under a Labour government, today will become We Who Must Not Be Named Day,” Rowling subsequently tweeted and as anyone can expect, social media reacted quickly and Rowling was criticized for her remark.

JK Rowling slammed for anti-trans tweets claiming she supports trans people but doesn’t want sex to be erased

One person wrote, “You're a terrible human being and your name is going to go down in history as that hateful bigot who helped ruin peoples lives, and I will enjoy seeing your legacy dismantled and desecrated :)”. “Y'know, as if the transphobia wasn't shitty enough, this woman's endless one-hit-wonder reference-fishing is just so fucking SAD. At least George Lucas also had Indiana Jones, y'know? This is like if the guy from Flock of Seagulls worked lyrics from "I Ran" into every tweet,” another user added.

Someone wrote, “Harry Potter and the Increasingly Embarrassing and Dangerous Cry For Relevancy.” “I know I shouldn’t give her the time of day but this tweet is so gratuitous. Seriously, with all the issues and dangers we all face at the hands of the patriarchy she wants to use this day, which is about GENDER EQUALITY, to go after trans women? That’s who she wants to fight???” yet another person remarked. "Yes, sweetheart," she replied to a fan who asked whether she was jeopardizing her legacy. "I’m staying right here on this hill, defending the right of women and girls to talk about themselves, their bodies, and their lives in any way they damn well, please. You worry about your legacy, I’ll worry about mine," she remarked.

The controversy came after Rowling and Scotland's First Minister had a spat over the country's Gender Recognition Reform Bill, which the author feels is a threat to society's most vulnerable women. This bill would make it simpler for people to legally alter their gender and would do away with the need for a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria. The measure also lowers the age restriction for transgender people and allows them to self-identify on legal documents. Rowling tweeted on March 5, “Multiple women’s groups have presented well-sourced evidence to @NicolaSturgeon’s government about the likely negative consequences of this legislation for women and girls, especially the most vulnerable. All have been ignored. If the legislation is passed and those consequences ensue as a result, the @SNP govt can’t pretend it wasn’t warned.”
