LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Most people would agree that high school constituted some of the best years in their life -- but they would also agree that the experience can be quite bizarre too. As students, we often face weird things happening around us, and only after reaching adulthood do we begin to understand the oddities.

It's safe to say that almost everyone has dealt with some amount of weirdness in high school, and so Jimmy Fallon asked his loyal 'Tonight Show' audience to share anecdotes from their life with the hashtag, '#MyHighSchoolWasWeird', and even read some of his favorite responses on his NBC talk show

'#MyHighSchoolWasWeird'

High school can be quite a culture shock for some people. Teenagers begin to deal with adult problems during this time despite not having the experience or mental discretion to figure out how to navigate complex feelings or relationships. It's not just the students, even high school teachers tend to be a bit more eccentric than those in younger grades considering they specialize in certain fields such as language, math, or science. Fallon thought it would be fun to have people recount their own "weird" experiences from adolescence, and the responses did not disappoint.

“It’s Hashtags time! Tell us something weird or funny about your high school, and tag it with #MyHighSchoolWasWeird,” the veteran talk show host tweeted, sparking a flood of wild tales from his viewers' teenage years. Fallon kicked off the thread himself as he recalled a personal memory. “One time a swim meet was canceled at my friend’s high school because the pool ‘caught on fire.’ Still have no idea how that’s possible. #MyHighSchoolWasWeird," he wrote.

Bizarre anecdotes

The responses were swift and hilarious, to say the least. "My high school was called Start. The student motto for it was Start High Stay High," one recalled. "We had a kid nicknamed Johnny Appleseed (JohnA for short) who placed marijuana seeds in any available place they could grow. Our school had pot plants popping up so often they had to get rid of all the potted plants in classrooms and offices. #MyHighSchoolWasWeird," another responded.

"My high school had the mayonnaise bandit who would put mayo on the underside of the stair railings from the cafeteria making them useless or risk getting a handful of slimy mayonnaise on your way to class #MyHighSchoolWasWeird," read yet another anecdote. "#MyHighSchoolWasWeird because we had a 'bring your tractor to school' day, those who brought one in got to skip all classes and just talk with others about their tractors. It always causes traffic delays because there was one main road into the school," someone else remembered.

"My Junior year of high school there was a competition for one of the teachers to kiss a cow. Of course, the most disliked teacher ended up kissing the cow. #MyHighSchoolWasWeird" another quipped.
