High school fight turns into 200-person brawl involving student, parents and police
BATON ROUGE, LOUSIANA: A terrifying 200-person fight between students, parents and police officers broke out at a high school in Louisiana on Wednesday morning, March 9. As hundreds of people — including parents — poured into the melee, at least three police officers were hurt, and ten people were taken into custody. The moment a police officer slammed a student's head into a brick wall was captured on camera during the altercation.
On other occasions, dozens of students and police were seen acting violently toward one another. The nasty events at East Baton Rouge Readiness Alternative School, which accepts kids who have previously been suspended or expelled from other schools in the district, are still being investigated by officials.

'Immediate action'
In response to the widely shared video, the NAACP issued a statement demanding "immediate action" against the cops seen striking pupils, and denouncing the parents who took part in the brawl. The group added that it had spoken with the sheriff's office to make sure that all video of the incident, including those captured on body cameras, would be examined as part of the investigation, as reported by DailyMail.
'200 students and parents fighting'
After reports of a significant campus disturbance, school board security arrived first, according to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, shortly after 8 am. When they discovered the violence, which had escalated to include over 200 students and parents fighting, authorities immediately asked for assistance. According to local sources, a group of female students was the first target of the altercation before it swiftly extended throughout the campus.
As text messages purportedly encouraging participation were sent out, parents and others from the outside apparently went to the campus and joined in the huge brawl. The rapid escalation forced law enforcement to issue an urgent call for support from all available units soon after they initially arrived in order to control the disorder, as per reports.
A total of 10 arrests
Officials reported that a Baton Rouge officer was taken to the hospital with a broken hip and head lacerations during the violent altercation between the students and officers, as reported by WISTV. Law enforcement officers made a total of 10 arrests, three of which were for the felony offense of violence on a police officer. Five teenagers were also detained on suspicion of disrupting the peace, including one 18-year-old woman who was also detained for resisting arrest and another 17-year-old woman who was detained for disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.
