Fans worried about Jessica Simpson after she slurs her words in 'embarrassing' ad
Jessica Simpson was mocked on Instagram after she appeared nervous and fidgety in a sponsored promotion for Flonase nasal spray on Tuesday, April 19.
The 41-year-old singer and actress raised eyebrows after she was seen reading from cue cards while promoting the allergy relief medicine. Simpson has been sober for four years. She once admitted to being "drunk" during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show back in 2017, and said last year she can't bring herself to watch that interview.

Simpson's followers did not waste time inundating the comments section with concerns about her demeanor. "I love you but take that ad off! You looked benzo’d out girl," one wrote. "I have never seen a more cringe-worthy ad in her stories 😳😳😬😬 homegirl needs to practice learning lines and looking at the camera 😂😂🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️" another chimed in.
"Really that’s the worst ad/commercial by you. With ur eyes all over the place. You couldn’t memorize the cue cards for a simple add? 'a card held beside a camera for a television broadcaster to read from while appearing to look into the camera.' LOL. 👎" a comment read.
"Lmao Flonase please hire a professional. That was embarrassing to watch," someone else wrote.
"Does Flonase cause plump lips as a side effect?" another added.
However, some fans rushed to defend the 'I Wanna Love You Forever' hitmaker.
"I see countless comments from angry and abusive people giving her s*** for no reason," one commented. "If you want to give her sh** about her lips (or anything else about her appearance for that matter) take a look in the mirror and ask yourself why you feel the need to comment negative and hurtful things on celebrities’ posts. Just keep scrolling," another wrote.
Simpson opened up last week about losing 100lbs of extra weight for the third time after she shocked fans with bikini pictures on Instagram. "Well, it took three years," she said during an appearance on 'The Real'. "I believe in setting small goals for yourself because in my life and how I've done it, there's easy ways to throw in the towel and just feel like it's impossible. So, the small goals for me are what helped me achieve the main goal."
Simpson married her husband Eric Johnson in 2014 and the pair has three kids together - daughters Maxwell, 9, Birdie, 3, and son Ace, 8. The 'Employee of the Month' actress spoke of her weight gain during pregnancies. "I definitely gain weight, a lot of weight, in my pregnancies. I celebrate pregnancy, but this last pregnancy was really hard for me," she said, referring to the birth of little Birdie. "I don't know if it was because I was older, hormones and all kinds of stuff, but whoa, Birdie gave me a brutal stretch," she added.
And in a Today interview last April, the star revealed that she had to get rid of her scale at one point after becoming obsessed with her weight progress gave her body image issues. "I threw it out," she said of the scale, adding, "[I have] no idea how much I weigh."
