LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jeremy Renner welcomed the start of the weekend with some good old-fashioned fun and games, as he and his family visited Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California, roughly an hour's drive from Los Angeles. 'The Mayor of Kingstown' star shared a photo on Instagram that featured him posing against a rail with the amusement park's rides serving as the backdrop. 'I chose to survive': Jeremy Renner gets emotional while talking about surviving near-death snowplow accident

'I'm re-learning to speak again'

Renner's recent visit to a theme park came on the heels of a candid interview with Diane Sawyer on ABC News. During the interview, the actor emotionally recounted his near-fatal accident on New Year's Day, which resulted in over 30 broken bones, a collapsed lung, and chest surgery."I'm re-learning to speak again with this broken jaw," Renner shared with Sawyer, describing the excruciating pain he still experiences from the extensive surgery he underwent, which included the insertion of screws, metal plates, and even rubber bands.

Despite the footage showing him walking with the aid of a cane, Renner still feels waves of pain and emotional triggers from the accident. "It's all there," he said, referring to the traumatic memories of the broken face, eye socket, mandible, rib, and liver. "Sounds terrifying."

The near-fatal accident

Renner recently shared details of the tragic accident that occurred on New Year's Day, resulting in multiple injuries for the actor. Renner had been using a Snowcat plow to assist his nephew, Alexander Fries, who was stuck in deep snow with his car. However, when Renner jumped out of the vehicle to help, he forgot to engage the emergency brake, causing the plow to roll uncontrollably toward Fries.

In an attempt to regain control of the vehicle, Renner jumped back in but was unable to stop it, and he was subsequently pulled under it, resulting in multiple injuries. The actor suffered a collapsed lung and had his liver pierced by a broken rib. The incident was a harrowing reminder of the dangers that can arise from simple mistakes, and Renner's courage and resilience in the face of adversity are truly commendable.
