LOS ANGELES: CALIFORNIA: The 'Jeopardy! Masters' tournament kicked off on May 8, 2023, with six champions testing each other's brains and wits for the big prize. The six contestants, namely James Holzhauer, Amy Schneider, Matt Amodio, Sam Buttrey, Andrew He, and Mattea Roach, competed in various pairings throughout the three-week tournament, with James, Matt, and Mattea making their way to the final on May 24.

James, the self-proclaimed villain of the gameshow, led the scoreboard and came across as the strongest contender to win the tournament. When he left the show in 2019, James had amassed a wealth of $2.4 million, making him the second-highest earner of the show, only behind the legendary Ken Jennings. It will be a hell of a task to beat James and take the prize away from him, but Mattea and Matt are solid in their own right. Mattea has enjoyed a 23-game winning run in the past while Matt earned a spot as the show's third-longest consecutive winner back in October 2021 after 38 wins. The stage is now set for the big final. But how much money is at stake here?

What is the prize money for the winner of ‘Jeopardy! Masters'?

The winner of the ‘Jeopardy! Masters' tournament will be rewarded with $500,000 and a trophy named after late host Alex Trebek. Sarah Foss, the producer of 'Jeopardy' said while announcing the prize money, “As if half a million dollars isn't enough, you're going to earn the Trebek trophy, and our winners will also have the opportunity to donate in honor of their favorite charity of $100K.”

Describing the Trebek trophy, she said, “It's nothing that embodies his likeness, but I feel like what we ended up with the design is really grand, wonderful, and symbolic of Alex in a different way.” It is to be noted that the second-placed person goes home with $250,000, while third place gets $150,000. The fourth, fifth, and sixth will be awarded $100,000, $75,000, and $50,000 respectively. Regardless of whether they qualify for the finals, every contestant goes home with a piece of the pie.
