Who is JD Casper? Texas singer on 'The Voice' dubbed ‘one-man band’ for playing multiple instruments and singing
It is extremely rare when you get to see a contestant on ‘The Voice’ playing multiple instruments but viewers on the fourth episode of ‘The Voice’ Season 20 witnessed a talented singer pulling off the same stunt. JD Casper from Austin, Texas, was dubbed as the “one-man band” by the judges after his blind audition on the singing reality show left them in awe.
The multi-tasker crooner covered The Fray’s ‘How to Save a Life’ but could not really manage to impress all the judges. Apart from his guitar, Casper got a suitcase with a fiddle along with a banjo and a bass player and played them all at once while trying to secure a place on the singing reality show. As luck had it, only Kelly Clarkson turned around her big red chair while the rest of the judges seemed less interested in the singer.
Interestingly, none of the coaches knew he was playing all the instruments single-handedly until they all turned around after his performance ended.

Who is JD Casper?
The 28-year-old crooner describes his music as indie-folk. While talking to Casper, Nick said, “We don’t have anyone like you on ‘The Voice’ whereas Blake congratulated him and added, “You gotta step up as playing three instruments while singing is going to be one task” concluding that it was really impressive.
While expressing her opinion, Kelly told Casper, “I think you did a really cool job. I did not know until I turned around and I was like ‘Oh you are a total package’. It is a really cool thing for me because usually cool guys like you never choose me,” jokingly adding, “Now, you have no choice.”
Casper soon reverted, “You were my first choice. I have a daughter and she loves you a lot.” Since none of the judges had turned around except Kelly, it was obvious that Casper was going to her team.
Casper has been working as a full-time musician for six years and has released a few original songs like ‘No Regrets’ and ‘The Ballad of Johnny Hobo’ and ‘Living in the Past.’ He had also dropped a cover song EP earlier which included tracks like ‘Tears for Fears’, ‘Everyone Wants to Rule the World’ and ‘Harvest Moon’ among others.
