After LAPD was called to his girlfriend's house and he was purportedly shocked with a stun gun, Pelicans player Jaxson Hayes spent a little more than four hours in jail Wednesday. He was released on a $25,000 bond, records show.— Ramon Antonio Vargas (@RVargasAdvocate) July 29, 2021
New Orleans Pelicans star Jaxson Hayes was arrested after an alleged altercation with the police. Reportedly the brawl led to the hospitalization of the NBA star along with a cop. The incident took place on Wednesday, July 28. According to reports, officers were called to an LA area home for a domestic disturbance early on July 28 morning. When the cops tried to intervene, 21-year-old Hayes tried his best to keep them from entering the premises.
A fight broke out between Hayes and a cop and the NBA star was tased in the middle of the scuffle. The fight was so intense that the police had to put out an "officer needs help" radio call. This is not the first time when an NBA star has been in legal trouble. Back in February 2020, former NBA player, Jim Farmer was arrested in human trafficking sting. Ex Rutgers basketball star, Logan Kelley was accused of killing a woman by slitting her throat in February this year. Last year in February, Milwaukee Bucks star Sterling Brown was tased by police officers over a parking violation.
Hayes sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The officer involved in the fight also sought treatment, although their condition is not known at the moment. The NBA star might be booked for felony battery on a police officer. The investigation in the initial alleged domestic incident is still going on but the parties involved have been uncooperative. No comments have been made from Hayes' representative so far on the incident. Writer for the The Times-Picayune, Ramon Antonio Vargas tweeted: "People who live next door to Pelicans player Jaxson Hayes' girlfriend said they heard 'scary, scary screaming' at 3 a.m. this morning before first responders arrived and took away a 'very tall gentleman' in an ambulance."
