Jason Kelce confirms NFL return amid retirement rumors, thanks 'supporters for fueling him'
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA: Jason Kelce, captain of the Philadelphia Eagles, has confirmed that he’ll be back for the next season. He tweeted about his plans to return to the NFL for the 13th season amid rumors of his retirement as his team lost the Super Bowl. He tweeted, "I have put much thought into whether it makes sense to play another season. After talking it over with my wife and many other friends and family, I have decided to return for another year. Thank you to all my supporters and detractors for fueling me, I ain’t f****** done yet!”
However, the 35-year-old has to wait until Wednesday, March 15, to re-sign the contract once the new league season ticks off, reported ESPN. The sporting network claims that Kelce was planning on retirement for a few seasons, but was trusting his former offensive lines coach Howard Mudd’s advice, "When in doubt, don't."

'I'm gonna let the batteries recharge'
Many experts believe his contribution to the team has been immense. Throughout his career with the Eagles, he has almost been the backbone of its success, including the 2018 Super Bowl and leading his squad to just concluded Super Bowl LVII. There he lost to his brother, Travis Kelce, and his Kansas City Chiefs. The duo recently talked on their ‘New Heights’ podcast where Jason opened up about the decision to retire. "I do know it was a lot of fun this year. I had an amazing team and time doing this show with my brother, so we'll see," he said when asked about his doubtful return. "I'm gonna let the batteries recharge. I'm exhausted, man. It's a long season, mentally, physically, emotionally drained, and I'm gonna let all that kinda recover before we decide on that."
'She was on top of the world for a week'
The brothers also admitted that the special Super Bowl night was made even special after their mother Donna Kelce received the attention. "The moment I saw mom is when I got really emotional because man, it was so awesome," an emotional Jason said. "It was awesome that she was on top of the world for a week. She was the heavyweight champ, man. She was on top of it and she shined the whole time, man. That was the coolest part. Mom, you killed it. Dad, you've been killing it," Travis added.
