Jason Derulo canceled? Army slams him for not giving BTS credit for 'Savage Love' success: 'Used them for clout'
American R&B singer Jason Derulo, who recently earned a collaboration with South Korea’s popular boy band BTS for the song ‘Savage Love’ remix, recently celebrated the success of the song with a party after it scored the numero uno position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This is Derulo’s first number-one song after a gap of 11 years. He had scored his first number-one track way back in 2009 with his debut single ‘Whatcha Say'.
The 31-year-old pop singer managed to join BTS on a song after his TikTok rendition of the K-pop band's single ‘Savage Love’ went viral on the Internet a few months ago. However, there is a twist in the tale as Derulo did not acknowledge BTS when he went live on TikTok during the success party of the song. He captioned the live session as, "It’s a celebration @#savagelove @hannastocking @ondreazlopez @charlyjordan @itstaylerholder @justmaiko @sommeray @jena @mrmovi3." Now, as we can see he did not mention BTS anywhere which annoyed the BTS Army as they took to Twitter to lash out at the singer.
One furious user said, “Jason derulo, you’ve been irrelevant for 10 years and then saying that you only began to respect bts when you saw the power of ther fandom??? is so wrong. but you’re right, we are powerful. you’ll never get a song on the charts again. this is so embarrassing." Another shared a few screenshots from Derulo’s TikTok live session and stated, "Jason Derulo has forgotten about BTS! Wow The one who got Billboard #1 is Savage Love Remix Don't forget that! You are at No.1 because of BTS! Congrats you’ve made it to army cancel list, REMEMBER sir BTS ate you up in your own song #JasonDeruloIsOverParty.”
One said, “It’s interesting how the original savage love never hit #1 on billboard charts and only the bts remix did.. yet he never even credited bts once.. sounds ungrateful to me.. #jasonderuloisoverparty.” One individual expressed his anger and posted, “We should’ve guessed this man wanted clout the minute he said he wanted 10M likes on his tiktok ........ #jasonderuloisoverparty.”
One Twitterati said, “#JasonDeruloIsOverParty I feel so bad knowing that at some point the boys are gonna look on social media and find out that another western artist that they respected enough to collab with just screwed them over and used them and their fanbase for clout. breaks my heart #BTS.”

The ‘Savage Love’ remix features BTS, Jason Derulo and producer Jawsh 685, whose 'Laxed (Siren Beat)' turned it into a Derulo hit. The song was released on October 2, 2020, after BTS had confirmed the collaboration. This is BTS's second number-one song after their English-language debut with chart-topper single ‘Dynamite.’
