LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: International Transgender Day of Visibility honors the lives and experiences of transgender people while raising awareness about the violence and prejudice faced by this group. On Friday, March 31, Jamie Lee Curtis posted a special ode to her daughter Ruby on her Instagram profile in honor of Transgender Day of Visibility. The 64-year-old 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' actress honored her daughter in a heartfelt speech after she accepted the Best Supporting Actress Oscar earlier this month.

"Love is love," Curtis posted with a picture of herself and Ruby laughing together on Instagram. The 27-year-old came out as transgender to Curtis and Christopher Guest, her husband of almost 39 years, with whom she has a 36-year-old daughter named Annie.

'Love is love'

Curtis posted a heartfelt message to her 5.2 million fans and followers after sharing a sweet picture of herself and her daughter Ruby laughing while posing outside. "Love is love. A mother's love knows no judgment," she wrote. The 64-year-old Oscar winner continued to write, "As a mother, I stand in total solidarity with my children as they move forward in the universe as their authentic selves with their own minds and bodies and ideas." The 'Halloween' actor concluded the post by writing, "On this trans visibility day my daughter and I are visible. #transvisibilityday."

'You’re an awesome mother'

Sofia Carson, the actress from 'Purple Hearts,' joined other social media users in the comment section to show her support by adding three white heart emojis. The 'Fear' actress Alyssa Milano also commented on the post, "You’re both so gorgeous."

Apart from celebs, Curtis' fans and followers also expressed their support. One fan wrote, "You’re an awesome mother. She’s very lucky to have you. :)" A second fan commented, "Thank you! As the mother of a trans son, I feel the same. Thank you for using your platform to support these lovely, magical kiddos." Jamie Lee Curtis dedicated her Oscar to Ruby

Ruby came out as transgender to her mother Jamie and father Christopher in 2020, but the actress didn't make the announcement until the summer of 2021. In a July 2021 interview with AARP, Jamie disclosed that their daughter, formerly known as Thomas, was transgender with Ruby's consent. The Oscar winner said that she and her husband, director Guest, 75, "have watched in wonder and pride as our son became our daughter Ruby."

The mother of two spoke to reporters about creating gender-neutral categories at the annual awards show after winning her Oscar at the 95th Academy Awards earlier this month, as per People. She said, "Obviously I would like to see a lot more women be nominated so that there's gender parity in all the areas and all the branches, and I think we're getting there."

The 'True Lies' star went on to say, "We're not anywhere near there. And of course, the inclusivity then that involves the bigger question, which is, how do you include everyone when there are binary choices, which is very difficult." Curtis continued to say, "As the mother of a trans daughter I completely understand that. And yet, to de-gender the category, also, I'm concerned [that] will diminish the opportunities for more women, which is something I also have been working hard to try to promote."

In the past, Jamie has consistently supported Ruby and brought up the subject of transphobia while promoting 'Halloween Ends' in October 2022.
