LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been off to a weak start with ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ but fans are holding out hope for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3'. James Gunn is a phenomenal director and has done a great job turning one of the most underrated teams in the Marvel comics into one of the most beloved in the movies. ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3’ will conclude the trilogy, which leaves fans with several questions about what’s in store for their favorite characters next.

Post-credit scenes are always a good indication of what might happen in the future of MCU. Sometimes these scenes are long and descriptive, and other times they are as brief as “Black Panther will return.” Now that James Gunn has confirmed there will be two post-credit sequences, it has left everyone wondering what might they entail.

The Marvel secrecy continues

For starters, it was shocking that James Gunn even confirmed that ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3’ would have two post-credit scenes. The reason is, it always feels like anyone associated with Marvel has taken an oath of some kind to never reveal anything before the release. Of course, Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo have had their fair share of slips when it comes to spoilers, but directors almost never say anything.

So, while everyone is thrilled that James Gunn has confirmed two post-credit scenes, the vagueness, and secrecy continue because that’s all he said. Of late, most of the MCU movies have had two post-credit scenes, the number is a little shocking considering the previous ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movie had five post-credit scenes. James Gunn’s lips are sealed, but at least we have something to look forward to!

Post-credit scenes usually indicate what might happen next in regard to the next installation, but since ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3’ is the end of the trilogy, things might get interesting in these scenes. One major character death is expected in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3', however, that still leaves several other characters, and we are certain one of the post-credit scenes will discuss the return of one of the characters in the future of MCU. This character will most likely be Star-Lord, aka Peter Quill, played by Chris Pratt.

The second post-credit scene might showcase Captain Marvel, considering the fact that apart from the Guardians, she has had a large share of her journey outside Earth. The next movie that will be released in Phase 5 is 'The Marvels', so it would make complete sense to show a glimpse of either Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, or Iman Vellani.

Could James Gunn be joking?

As we mentioned before, the previous installment had five post-credit scenes, so fans have also considered the possibility that James Gunn might be misleading everyone as one user on Reddit said, “Plot twist: there's only one, and this is Gunn's way of trolling everyone on his way out the door.” It is entirely possible that Gunn might be confusing his fans as a joke close to the release of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3'.

There could be one post-credit scene for all we know, or six, the possibilities are truly endless. The Guardians films are slightly more unique in comparison to the other MCU films, and so is James Gunn. This has most definitely increased the anticipation amongst fans, so the purpose has been served!

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3’ will be available to watch in theatres near you from May 5, 2023!
