Adam Warlock from 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3' has an evil similarity to MCU's Kang the Conqueror
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In the ever-expanding MCU, we are able to see newer and newer characters from the comics, including the upcoming 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3', where Adam Warlock plays a crucial role. A glimpse of Warlock was introduced in the MCU during the mid-credit scene in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2' when Ayesha from the Sovereign race created Warlock to take revenge on the guardian gang. And it seems Warlock is set to play a key role in the upcoming 'GOTG'. Warlock is played by Will Poulter in the MCU.
On the other hand, Kang the Conqueror, the next big bad of the MCU, is currently asserting his dominance through the MCU. Kang was introduced in Disney + series 'Loki' as He Who Remains. So far, we have seen plenty of variants of Kang in the recent 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania' with an iconic post-credit scene of the council of Kangs and also gave us a glimpse of Victor Timely, who is set to appear in 'Loki' Season 2. And now the introduction of Warlock in the MCU surfaces the similarities between Kang the Conqurer and the evil version of Adam Warlock in the comics. Let's take a look,

Who is Magus?
In the comics, Adam Warlock was created to be an ideal version of a human by a group of evil scientists called the Enclave. However, the irony of the creation became the cause of the downfall of the scientists as Adam immediately destroys the scientists and their labs after learning their evil intentions. And the worst nightmare of Warlock came from none other than the evil version of himself, named Magus. Magus is the version of Warlock, who became the entity he was, after being stuck in a cocoon for a long time in the Collector's museum. The strengths of Magus include cosmic powers, strong teleportation, and strength. And Magus was taught the 'Dark Secrets' by Lord Chaos and Master Order, which is the principle that there is no good and evil. And they rather imprinted Magus with the idea of the "real battle," which according to Chaos and Order, is between purpose (life) and non-purpose (death), which Warlock accepted as the real Truth which haunted him in his cocoon days as well. Magus then emerged from the cocoon as a purple being with a bonus of his powers being enhanced. Magus became the god of the Universal Church of Truth in the future, which resulted in him being one of the chilling opponents of Adam Warlock. Magus travels back in time to make sure Adam Warlock follows the right path that would lead him in becoming him.
Magus in MCU
The main storyline of Magus in MCU deals with the evil version dealing with Thanos and the infinity stones. And since the storyline of Thanos and Infinity Stones is over in MCU, it is fitting that the plotline would focus more on Adam Warlock and Magus, facing off. It has already been hinted by James Gunn that Adam Warlock has significant potential in MCU's future projects.
On the other hand, if MCU is going down the road to using Magus in the future, there is a strong chance they would avoid the comic book origin story of the character as the time-traveling evil variant is too similar to the one that has been established for Kang, the conqueror. And there are endless possibilities available for these characters to be in the same movie, where Kang and Magus teaming up, with the help of Kang's time-traveling technology, and work together at some level.
Season 1 of 'Loki', the first two volumes of 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and 'Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special' are available for streaming exclusively on Disney +. 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3' is releasing exclusively in theaters on May 5, 2023.
