The Final Run Time
James Gunn is famous for interacting with his fans on Twitter, and on several occasions, he has replied to fan theories and shared his love for comic book characters. And in a recent tweet, James Gunn was asked by a fan whether the runtime of 'GOTG Vol. 3' is for 2 hours and 29 minutes long, Gunn replied by confirming that though it is not exactly the runtime, the movie is more or less around it. He further went on to say that the movie is tight-packed and there are no seconds to spare. And as this is the epic finale for the guardians, the movie is set in a way that every major guardian's story arc is given a proper farewell.
"It’s around that long, although that’s not yet exact. And, I promise, not a second is wasted. There’s no fat. It was necessary to experience the full arc for every major Guardians character, not only for this film, but for the trilogy (or, I should say, trilogy plus)."

End of an Era
After 'Guardians of the Galaxy' (with a runtime of 2 hours and 2 minutes), 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' (with a runtime of 2 hours and 16 minutes) and the recent special 'The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special' (with a runtime of 42 minutes), the group is bidding their farewell with 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3', marking the end of an era with the longest running time of the 'GOTG' series. So far, we have only known a little to none about the backstory of the rocket, and the glimpse from the trailer of the movie suggests that the movie is about to show some heartwrenching story about the rocket in the lab of The High Evolutionary and his love story with Lylla (Rocket Raccoon's soulmate in the comics). It is for sure that the movie is going to be an emotional ride.
The first two 'Guardians of The Galaxy' movies and 'The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special' are currently streaming on Disney+. 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3' is set to release exclusively in theatres on May 5, 2023.
