'So that's why it's boring': Internet in splits as 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania' writer Jeff Loveness reveals story behind 'Kang'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania' was released earlier this year, and it wasn't at par with the audience's expectations. Although it did take a sizable hit in its sophomore outing at the box office, it failed to satisfy Marvel fans. The movie had many loose threads from too much exposition, lackluster visual effects, and other factors that led to its failure. However, discussion about the movie is still taking place, from interviews to the internet reacting to it. Recently, the writer for the movie, Jeff Loveness, talked about his inspiration behind the character "Kang the Conquerer". Loveness was solo-riding the writing team and was the only person responsible for delivering a great script to Marvel Studios for the third installment of the 'Ant-Man' franchise. The story behind the inspiration is rather interesting but it has left quite a few Marvel and Ant-Man fans unimpressed.
Jeff Loveness started his career by writing several television episodes for 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' and 'Miracle Workers'. He later gained notability for writing four 'Rick and Morty' Season 4 episodes.

'Oh, just dread-inducing panic'
In a recent interview with DiscussingFilm, Jeff Loveness spilled beans on his writing process and shared the story inspiration behind the villain from Ant-Man 3. When asked if he started working on this right at the beginning of the pandemic, Loveness shared some insight on his writing process, "That was the joy of it. I don’t want to play it safe. I want to have big jokes, a big villain, and a joyful adventure with this likable family. So that was it going in. I want it to feel slightly like a throwback and slightly uplifted in that way. Then with Kang, that was a big inspiration, COVID. He’s trapped. He cannot get out. He has so much that he dreams of doing, so much he needs to do, and so much that was taken away from him. So I bottled all of my COVID rage into this guy who was imprisoned down there and had the world literally stripped away from him. I didn’t think about it before, but COVID is a pretty big indicator on the script." according to DiscussingFilm.
'Someone stop this man'
When it comes to fan reactions on the internet, there is no filter. As the news of Jeff Loveness sharing his inspiration for Kang's story came out, the internet broke into a frenzy and came out with hilarious memes and comments stating that poor writing led to 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania' being a failure. "The more he talks the less confidence I have in the next avengers film" added a user, "So that's why the movie is boring af." chimed another. A user shared a meme that had "Your freedom of speech, hand it over" written on it, while another wrote, "someone stop this man from ever writing again." "Dude is interviewing too much, he sucked at his job , maybe if he wrote more and did less interviews his movies would make money:.:.." stated a user. Meanwhile, some users were surprised by the source of inspiration, saying, "I thought it was inspired by a comic book." "He has his own stories already written you could be inspired by" said another user.
