LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a recent interview with ET's Nischelle Turner, James Corden shared his sentiments about leaving 'The Late Late Show', stating that although he may not feel entirely ready to depart, he is confident that it's the right decision. "I feel compelled to do it," Corden explained before adding "I feel like if I don't leave now, I never will...or it will be me just being pushed out the door."

Corden first announced his departure from the show in April 2022, and after remaining as host for a final season, his official departure is now approaching. The comedian shared that his exit from the show is just one of several significant changes happening for his family this year, as they prepare to move back to London with their three children. "You don't want to be making a mistake," Corden acknowledged, but ultimately he feels that it's the right time to move on.

Corden reflects on fear and treasured memories

Corden opened up about the fear that comes with making big changes in life, as reported by ET. Moving back to London with his family and putting his children into a new school is a daunting prospect, especially when coupled with leaving behind "the most magical experience" of his career at 'The Late Late Show'. "Change in your life comes with a huge amount of fear, professional, personal," Corden said. "To, with intention, turn everything upside down comes with a lot of fear", he added. However, he believes that this fear is a sign that he's doing something right. "I just think how things end is important," Corden stated before adding "How you close things off is really, really important. I think that it matters, and I think I've done 1200 shows by the time we finish -- that is a lot of TV. We have done things on the show that far exceeded anything I thought we were capable of."

For Corden, the most treasured aspect of his time on 'The Late Late Show' has been the people. "It's a magical environment, there's been so much growth. In the truest sense, it feels like a found family, and we've been through a lot as a team" he said. Corden expressed particular pride in his team's ability to adapt and thrive despite pandemic restrictions. "Through COVID, and we've watched people get married, we've seen babies born, we've supported each other as people lost loved ones, we've gone through shooting the show remotely in my garage," he continued. "We have been through an absolute roller coaster and that's what I will miss. I will miss the camaraderie, the environment, the spirit" added Corden.

Final Carpool Karaoke segment on The Late Late Show

Corden bid farewell to 'The Late Late Show' with an emotional final segment of Carpool Karaoke featuring Adele. The singer revealed that Corden and his wife have been her "two best friends" for years and provided invaluable support during her split from Simon Konecki, the father of her son. "Around the time of my divorce, they were so kind to me," Adele said before adding "I just had my little boy, and I was going through quite a difficult time, and they just made me feel so secure."

Adele also credited Corden with inspiring her hit song 'I Drink Wine.' "You said, 'Oh, my God, you should say that in a song,' and I did," she revealed. "That's one of my best writing things I've ever done, I think", she added. Fans can look forward to one more celebration of Carpool Karaoke with 'The Last Last Late Show With James Corden Carpool Karaoke Special', airing at 10 pm EST on Thursday before the final episode of the show. Throughout his final week, Corden will welcome a star-studded lineup of guests, including Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston, Josh Gad, Jennifer Garner, Brett Goldstein, Kate Hudson, Mila Kunis, Seth Meyers, Billy Porter, and Sharon Stone.
