LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The reviews of the much-awaited sequel to 'Avatar' are out and most of them are calling 'Avatar: The Way of Water' a visual masterpiece. The sequel to the blockbuster 2009 movie concluded filming in late September 2020 after three years of shooting. Apparently, it is made on an estimated budget of $350-400 millions. It is an epic science fiction film directed by James Cameron, who also helmed the original movie.

Rumor has it that three more sequels are scheduled to arrive in 2024, 2026, and 2028, though the latter two would depend on the commercial reception of 'Avatar: The Way of Water.' The film received mostly positive response from critics, who praised the visuals, themes, performances, and world-building, although the dialogue and story were met with some criticism.

How expensive is 'Avatar 2'? James Cameron feels it has to be 'third highest grossing' film to break even

Here's what the critics had to say.

"‘#Avatar: The Way of Water’ Review: #Avatar2 is more eye-popping but not better than Avatar. Avatar 2 is a visual feast that deserves to be seen on the biggest screen possible, it’s got fantastic action sequences, and although the story is weak," one tweeted. Another wrote, "Bigger, better and wetter” must have been James Cameron's directives because 'Avatar: The Way of Water' is precisely all of those things."

Critic Eirik Bull shared, "Like its predecessor, Avatar: The Way of Water isn't exactly subtle (and neither is this review), but oh my, is it beautiful!"

Acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro also praised the movie. "I say it again: Avatar 2 - seeing it you realize how long it has been since you saw a MOVIE-MOVIE (like that, in caps)," he tweeted.
